Description
For sale - Orson Wells' War Of The Worlds infamous radio broadcast. The LP is in great condition and the LP is signed by Howard Koch who wrote the radio broadcast and also co-authored the classic film, Casablanca. The inscription reads, "Alexander - All the best, Howard Koch" When I was a teenager I had the wonderful opportunity to meet Howard, who lived in my town in upstate NY. He was kind enough to spend time with me and share stories as well as sign this LP.
A little more about the famous broadcast.... A wonderful piece of vintage Radio History
First was the HG Wells sci fi novel WAR OF THE WORLDS Then was the Howard Koch script for the Mercury Theatre of the Air... Read and broadcast on air on CBS Radio by actor Orson Welles, the night before Halloween 1938 And lastly, America's response made headlines as it was received and perceived by those who tuned in late, as a REAL Live Newscast of an invasion of earth from Mars
We've all heard about it and snicker at what appears to be gullible naivete, but fewer and fewer living Americans experienced or remember the terror it invoked over 80 years ago!
