Description
Original Memphis Pressing - Sun Label #209
"That's All Right"/"Blue Moon of Kentucky"
Elvis Presley, Scotty & Bill
Original Memphis pressing clearly showing the distinctive pushmarks or punchmarks from the presses on the label. It does, of course, have the correct approximately 1/4 inch spacing between the matrix number and the "72" in the trail off.
The genuine article, unlike many of the other listings you'll see claiming to be original first pressings. This plays with the characteristic background hiss (these 45s were cut on presses designed for 78s) - beware of sellers claiming their "original" Presley Sun 45 plays without any background hiss.
If you're reading this then you'll know this is a piece of music history - a seminal recording from 1954 and, for many, this double slab of rockabilly from Elvis, Scotty & Bill was the catalyst for Rock n' Roll music, causing a seismic shift in popular music and pop culture.
Sun #209 was Presley's first single and is one of the most sought after of 45s.
The labels are in good condition without any tears or writing - slight mark on "That's All Right" side under Wabash BMI (see photo).
Vinyl is still bright with surface scratches and marks.
You'll be hard pushed to find a better example for less than £1,500.
