Description
Hi All, I’ve sorted out a few more choice cuts in the collection for your consideration as well as a few ‘vinyl staples’ for the discerning new entrant to vinyl collecting. For your consideration we have:
Title: A HARD DAY’S NIGHT by THE BEATLES
Cat No: PCS 3058 – STEREO
Issue: Original 1964 issue on the B/Y PARLOPHONE Label; Correct Parlophone rim-text, recording first published and ‘Sold in the UK’ label text.
Vinyl Condition visual: EX; the vinyl has retained much of its gloss and sheen and is a superb example of this rare stereo Beatles album. There are few, if any, very light scratches of note and only a few light handling marks, finger prints etc. The disc on both sides is essentially very clean. Overall this is a very presentable copy of what is a wonderful and elusive stereo Beatles album and, as such, it is most worthy of the EX grade allocated.
Vinyl Condition Playback: The vinyl grades as EX+; I don’t exaggerate when I say the disc on both sides is silent (to my ears) at the run-in, and thereafter the sound delivery is just wonderful. No static of note and very few, if any, audible clicks, ticks or pops. Even between tracks it is virtually silent and a dream to play. Overall I would say that there is no lessening is sound quality at all - the music is delivered just fab. The vinyl sits perfectly flat on the turntable and plays through with no skips or jumps. This disc will make someone very happy!
Label Condition: EX; lovely clean and crisp labels, no unsightly marks or notable spindle marks at all and no writing or damage whatsoever to the labels. The matt black labels, silver text and the yellow detail are all vibrant and clear.
Cover Front: The front cover grades as EX; the laminated front is in wonderful overall shape. It is essentially very clean, undamaged and has retained its shape well. The central image is clear and the white areas remain quite white. The lamination is excellent with just some very mild creases in a few places and a little ring-wear is evident when cover is held to the light. There is a small ding top left corner but that’s about the lot. Aside from this little mark, there are no other notable creases/splits to report and the top and bottom edges are surprisingly in wonderful order – Overall it’s a very decent example of this sleeve which I grade as being EX.
Cover Back: EX; the unlaminated G&L back is in EX condition being very clean and essentially damage free. Just a few very light age related marks and minimal light rubbing in places and a little ring-wear is just starting to show. The flip-backs are secure and very clean; the bottom flip-back has a few areas of the top layer lifting – pse see photo; this is easily repaired.
Spine: EX; the spine is intact, clean with good lamination cover. It has retained a very good square shape, and there is still some evidence of pinched corners. All the text is very legible and clear – this is a super spine.
Corners: VG; very mild and gentle knocks but essentially still quite square and sharp.
Opening Edge: A very straight edge with just a few light bumps and dings from normal use. No splits or tears.
Inserts/Other: Original emitex tracing paper inner sleeve in VG- condition – clean but has a small split on one side.
Summary: Very difficult to find, I’ve owned this for about 10 yrs and have cherished it. It was a sheer joy to play and to listen to and I’m convinced the new owner will be delighted with it. If you’re seeking a copy of this wonderful and elusive stereo album you could do a lot worse than grabbing this copy whilst it’s available.
Postage: With regard to postage, all records will be posted in 12” Defenda- corrugated mailers so they should arrive as they left me. Finally, I offer a no nonsense refund if you’re not delighted with your purchase, less postage of course, which hopefully provides you with sufficient confidence to take a shot, and if you do, good luck.
