You will be bidding for very rare, original issue and quality albums. Sometime I will list rare re-issues or later pressings. They will be stated as (re) in the listing. I use Goldmine Standard Catalog as a grading guideline and tend to be conservative.
Due to the value of my collection, I will help save you shipping fees. I have ordered special album boxes for shipping. All boxes will have four FRAGILE, Phonograph Record stickers. This is an attempt to let the postal people know they are handling sensitive boxes. There will also be a mailing confirmation. Albums will have clear covers with inserts. Thank you for your interest. FROM MY PERSONAL COLLECTION; Another ultra rare classic from my collection, purchased new in 1965 and played just once prior to listing, you are bidding for a very rare 1965 original first pressing of Iko Iko by the Dixie Cups and recorded on the Red Bird Label RB-20-103 in High Fidelity, valued for $150+ NM in the Goldmine Price Guide and this is truly one of them! You will be pleased! The trio included Sisters Barbara Ann and Rosa Lee Hawkins; plus their cousin Joan Marie Johnson,The 47 year old, thick album cover is superb condition. There are no seam splits, discoloration, ring wear, tape, tears, writing or wrinkles. The liner notes in back are clean, with barely a hint of discoloration. The black, shiny record is beautiful and the labels MINT, no spindle marks. I inspected the rare record under my 200 watt light and there were no scratches, scuffs or groove lines, just a couple of paper cuts from removing the record from the sleeve. I also played the record just prior to listing and there were no skips, sticks, pops or hisses. A near new listening experience.
The songs include; Side 1, Iko Iko, Chapel Of Love, Gee The Moon Is Shining Bright, I'm Gonna Get You Yet, Ain't That Nice, Thank You Mama Thank You Papa. Side 2, Gee Baby Gee, Another Boy Like Mine, Girls Can Tell, All Grown Up, People Say.
A most rare, beautiful first pressing of a Hall of Fame Girl Group of the 60's and based on the Goldmine guide, the album cover is graded VG++, the quality of the listening experience NM and the record's appearance NM. There is no reserve.
GRADING GUIDELINES FROM THE GOLDMINE PRICE GUIDE!
(NM or NM-) NM records are shiny with no visible defects such as writing, stickers or needle marks on the labels. The album cover should have no creases, folds, seam splits or any signs of human handling. It also will have no ring wear.
(VG+) or (Excellent) May show some slight signs of wear, including light scuffs or very light scratches that do not affect the listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK. Minor signs of handling are OK. The cover might be marred by a cutout marking, small hole punch, a cut in the spine or a promotional stamp and even a tiny bit of ring wear.
(VG) Have more obvious flaws such as lack of gloss, groove wear, light scratches and needle marks. When played there will be surface noise that will not overpower the music overall. Noise in the passages, between songs is common. The cover may have minor seam splits, writing, tape, stickers, ring wear and scuffs.
(VG-) Is just a compounding of the VG category. Many obvious flaws but if the record is rare, may very well be worthwhile. I usually do not list records lower than the above grades.
Remember, when you are bidding, most of these records are usually 50+ years old and have been out of print for a very long time. When you consider that, damage, loss, and normal use or wear has reduced the market to the point that few of these wonderful treasures are even available today.
