We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Original MONO 1967 first pressing from 45 years back provides for memorable melodies by this top flight Chicago garage band that enhances its sound in the studio of Columbia Records...

The rare MONO first pressing provides for different song mixes to the stereo issue but also has the bold punchy (mono) production that you don't get with the monaural release

Boy, somebody likes the Byrds. The Cryan' Shames sound like the local Byrds-styled band, which makes sense for mid-1966. "We'll Meet Again" and "She Don't Care About Time" are played outright, and the band's entire approach is Byrdsian: guitarist Jim Fairs does a good McGuinn impersonation on 12-string, and the group has their harmonies down. Sugar and Spice is not all Byrdsian; the band covers other top acts - Beatles ("If I Needed Someone"), garage ("Heatwave"), the Leaves ("Hey Joe"), and the Animals (an odd version "We Got to Get Out of This Place" with a cool spoken intro, and possibly overdubbed crowd noises). Even the fun, bouncy title track, "Sugar & Spice, was a Searchers hit from 1963. There are some good signs here - the band plays well together, and lead guitarist Jim Fairs penned four tracks. At best, his work is good pop-rock ("I Wanna Meet You", "We Could Be Happy"), and "Ben Franklin's Almanac," was a respectable original with shades of the Byrds, the Yardbirds, and California harmonies, but more rocking, as the rhythm guitar plugs away at a Bo Diddly beat, and Fairs allots himself a nice solo spot and he is pretty strong as lead guitarist.

The Cryan Shames were probably fun to see live, especially when you include the guy with a hook (Jim Pilster aka J.C. Hooke) for a hand playing tambourine/vocals. The rest of the band is Dennis Conroy (drums), Tom Doody (lead vocals), Dave Purple (bass), and Gerry Stone (guitar).

The Cryan' Shames first album was probably their best of the three albums they released ; the second single, "I Wanna Meet You," was a decent meld of Beatles-Byrds jangle with Beach Boys harmonies; and its flip, "We Could Be Happy," was an good soft rock number. Throw in the original composition, "July" (one of the better 1966 Byrds sound-alikes), and you have a very decent 1966 pop/rock garage album.

CONDITION: The cover: is solid; M- in factory cellophane, really nice, usually IF found it's with wear - here's a survivor UP-GRADE!  Still has bright colors, no split seams. no bends, and  no writing

The vinyl:is all glossy shine on both sides, VG++ few very minor little scuffs that don't affect the clean audio - it's vastly clean visually but with the minor paper sleeve scuffs ... CLEAN 360 Sound =MONO = labels
