In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Very rare circa 1969 ORIGINAL pressing of the 2nd and 3rd Les SINNERS albums! Almost hard to believe the entire albums are on each side making for a simply thrilling & unique listening experience...
Most folks don't realize how large and energetic Quebec's sixties rock scene was. Featured here, the SINNERS, one of the scene's most potent band with GREAT mix of flavorful self penned compositions that fall squarely in the scream punk fuzz psych and melodic-laced pop injections...This crew would have been HUGE only if they had been from America. Then again, much of their appeal comes from their Quebec flavorings....
Their second album, side one of this album, Sinnerismes, a title not to be confused with their similar titled Sinerisme is an excellent platter filled with poprock & fuzzpsych mixes while their 3rd Lp, side two of this album, VOX POPOLI is a full blown psychedelic rock affair complete with amazing self penned compositions that have the ability to stick in your head, all day and night... .........(((credits to bad cat records ... on the web))))
SIDE ONE: LP: "SINNERISMES" (1967)
Signing with the bigger "Jupiter" label resulted in the release of 1967's "Sinnerismes". (From a marketing standpoint the album title was odd since the debut LP had the same title with slight different spelling. Right off the bat was a standout tune with a suprising effective take on the Beatles "Penny Lane" -- with its own unique spin, it's difficult on which version is better, The Beatles or Sinners, which says a lot. With the exception of The Beatles cover the album featured all original material largely written by vocalist Francois Guy. Exemplified by tracks like 'Notre Etang', 'Les Dentes Grilles' and the snarling garage punk 'Les Greves d'aujourd'hui' the results offered up an interesting mix of their earlier garage roots with occasional nods to lite-psych and the outright weird (check out the freaked-out 'L.S.D. Ha! Ha!' and the a capella snippet 'Les Ledgende des Nymphes Perdues'). Personal highlights included the jangle rocker 'Les Bouffons' and the super strange ' La Petite Souris'.
1. Complete with the same styled arrangements, 'Penny Lane' is definitely an interesting experience.
2. Even though it sounded like it had been recorded in a restroom stall, 'Notre Etang' offered up a nice slice of jangle, garage rock. Kudos to guitarman Ernest Rock for the nice Byrds-styled guitar.
3. 'Les Ledgende des Nymphes Perdues' is a harmony rich, folk-ish number. Pretty, but not exactly a typical slice of garage rock.
4. Opening up with some tasty fuzz guitar by Ernest Rock, 'Les Dentes Grilles' showed the band could convincingly pull off a slice of greasy blues-rock. Canned Heat would have been proud of this one.
5. Well, in case you couldn't guess, the title pretty much told you want to expect with respect to this one. Basically three minutes of spaced out weirdness, 'L.S.D. Ha! Ha!' and would serve as a nice reminder that illicit drugs bend the creative juices.
6. 'L'hymne a Ti-Pop' finds the band returning to a more conventional rich poprock sound with a nice memorable hook...
7. 'Les Greves d'aujourd'hui' starts side two as a nice mid-1960s rocker that sounded a bit like The Beach Boys recording a true rocker. Once again Ernest Rock turns in a nice guitar solo.
8. A pretty ballad, 'Je Reve a Toi' sports a great bass line and some cool Who-styled backing vocals.
9. Complete with a great melody and plenty of jangle guitars, 'Les Bouffons' is the album's best garage-rocker.
10. Opening up with some nice harpsichord from Charles Linton, 'Versailles 1667' is an interesting slice of soft pop - imagine The Left Banke and you wouldn't be all that far off the mark.
11. 'La Petite Souris' (translates as 'the little mouse') is another slice of out-and-out weirdness. This time the results sounded like a mixture of backward tapes, American Indian chants, and freakout guitar ...
12. With a great beat and more Ernest Rock fuzz guitar, 'Les Disc-Jockeys' is easily another of the album's best rockers.

Largely written by vocalist Francois Guy and bassist Charles P. Linton, it was clear the band had been listening to lots of ‘happening’ bands (as well as -- from the sounds -- possibly ingesting some popular illicit substances). Odd time signatures, treated vocals, Indian influences, in-between song spoken word segments, cool production effects, you’ll find it all here, along with some first rate pop-rock laced psychedelic tunes. In fact this is one of those albums where it’s simply fun to sit back with a beer or three and simply sing along with.
'68 first pressing of this Lp is fairly expensive, sometimes selling on ebay for a few hundred dollars. It’s worth it though, as Vox Populi is one of the great psychedelic sixties concept Lps and definitely one of the best Canadian albums bar none.
Vox Populi or “voices of the people” was the group’s highwater mark, a superb psychedelic concept Lp centered around life and people’s attitudes toward everyday situations. This 1968 release includes "Everything Will Be Fine (Le Fou Du Roi)" beginning and ending with cool, distorted vocals.
Vox Populi bears a strong resemblence in sound to the Who’s "Sell Out" Lp and shares a concept similar to that of the Kink’s "Face to Face" album. Many of the songs are ultra catchy psych-pop-art gems and the album displays a good stoned sense of humor throughout. It’s almost useless to pick out key tracks as Vox Populi is very consistent and individual. "Everything Will Be Fine", "Nothing Is Happening", and "Today, Tomorrow" are all strong psych tracks with good atmospheric vocals, an “English feel” and a nice, trippy production. Other hard rocking highlights are the muscular, lean rocker "Late" and the brilliant "Don’t You Run Away". Don’t You Run Away is a killer fuzz laden psych punker that sounds similar to a really good cut off the Outsiders’ "C.Q." or the Pretty Things’ "S.F. Sorrow" albums. Another strong track, "The Days Are Gone" is a superb melancholy rocker that harkens back to an earlier time in rock history.
Les Sinners would go on to release another album or two during the progressive rock era though none of them matched the greatness of the first two or the legendary Vox Populi.
(1) Starting out with a strumming sitar (or a guitar tuned to sound like a sitar), 'Vox Populi' sports a nifty, slightly lysegenic (acid) aura with Francois Guy sounding quite stoned.
(2) In spite of the acid soaked opening segment, 'Le Fou Du Roi' finds the band switching to a poprock song that sounded like a hybrid of The Who-styled melody with glorious Beach Boys harmonies slapped on top of it. Really interesting and enjoyable.
(3) 'Another breezy pop number, Tard, Il Se Fait Tard' is kicked along by a simple, but catchy Earnest Rock guitar figure and some beautiful harmony vocals.
(4) A stark ballad 'Aujourd’Hui Et Demain' starts out as a stark ballad, but gets increasingly interesting as it goes along and the arrangement became more complex.
(5)'Kid Sentiment' starts out with some tasty 12 string jangle rock guitar from Rock, but then took a turn into tastey rural-rock territory = the chorus is catchy. This all may have something to do with the fact the tune was recorded for a film with the same title.
(6) With its echoy vocal and Who styled drumming, 'Devoir Partir' is a great trippy ballad with a nice Ernest Rock meltdown fuzzz guitar solo midway through.
(7) Side two starts with what was probably the album's most accessible tracks 'Je Ne Sais Pas‘. Kicked along by another nice guitar performance from Ernest Rock, this one had a great beat and a melody that was easy on the ears.
(8) Imagine what Roger McGuinn and the Byrds would have sounded like had they been from Quebec and you'll have a feel for what this jangle rocker 'Depuis Longtemps Deja' sounded like. One of our favorite performances on the album.
(9) 'Monsieur Ding Ding' ... another nice bouncy slice of Sinners grooving along...
(10) 'Marie-Jeanne' yet again a nice up tempo memorable melody.
(11) The strangest song on the album 'Pourquoi Croire Oublier le Temps' bounces across a couple of genres and sounds as if vocalist Guy and company had been listening to lots of British pop-psych materials such as The Small Faces. Cool and smooth....
(12) 'Vox Populi' ends the album with a weird sound collage and a spoken word segment (with some haunted house organ as backing)

CONDITION: The cover: rated: near, M- the thick cover is very solid, despite a minor bb delete you don't really notice, extremely minor visible past handling is all... nothing at all about it should turn off a collector -- one we would keep if we didn't already own... no split seams, no writing, clean back cover that IF found is usually well worn... here, a collectible rare original pressing....
The vinyl: Rated: M- is clean over both sides and played very (!) enjoyable, as nicely or well as it did when first issued in 1969 ... clean Jupiter labels
