*** ATTENTION!

Please carefully read our entire listing to answer any questions you may have,  including discount shipping rates at end of listing; then contact us directly with any other information you may need.

WITH MUCH APPRECIATION TO ALL OUR CUSTOMERS:  If you have a question on orders received, please contact us.  We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied.   When leaving Feedback, please consider the following:  eBay's policy on the 5-star rating system is anything less than a 5  reduces our standing with eBay and ultimately can affect our selling abilities.   SO please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music!  We have served thousands of satisfied customers  - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so.

We have a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records.   Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of  2/3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers.

We mail all paid orders out once a week on Fridays/Saturdays.  Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule to Monday.   We strive to keep our shipping and handling costs as close to actual charges as reasonable.  We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order.  Please be aware we have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.

TO OUR REPEAT CUSTOMERS:  We are happy to hold orders to save on shipping.  Please pay your current invoice within five days of auctions ending and, if you request, we will hold your order and reflect a shipping discount for each additional order shipped together in the same parcel.

As always, thank you for your support!

Original 1972 first pressing vinyl in thick gatefold cover of the HIGH point of Marc Bolan and T-REX ... "Metal Guru"  "Telegram Sam" etc etc etc

With a great cover photograph from Ringo, The Slider captures Marc and T.Rex at the very height of their powers. They had a run of ten consecutive singles that were all destined to finish in the top four UK chart slots. They achieved a total of four number ones and four more reached number two. From The Slider came two of those chart topping singles “Telegram Sam” and “Metal Guru”. They were to be his last number one records. By the end of 1974 his sales were in decline.

The Slider, which was released in July 1972, had been recorded at the famous Chateau D’Herouville near Paris and in Copenhagen. Once again Tony Visconti handled production. T.Rex consisted of Marc, bass player Steve Currie, drummer Bill Legend and Mickey Finn who added backing vocals and hand percussion. If Electric Warrior had propelled T.Rex into the super league, The Slider certainly helped confirm that position.

It opens with a hit single on either side of the old vinyl album. Side one links together well with “Mystic Lady”, “The Slider”, and the nicely chilled “Space Ricochet” all standing out. “Rock On” with vague reminders of “Hot Love” and “Baby Boomerang” are equally as effective. “Buick Mackane” with its early “Children Of The Revolution” style riff ends a great first side.

Side Two kicks off with “Telegram Sam” with Marc’s knowing lyric, ‘golden nose Slim, I knows where you been’. The bizarrely named blues based “Rabbit Fighter” leads into the instantly recognizable “Baby Strange”. Such was the strength of Marc’s songwriting at the time; it found itself almost lost on the b-side of “Telegram Sam”. “Ballrooms Of Mars” is next with its references to Bob Dylan, John Lennon, and Alan Freed. Freed’s inclusion may have confused some UK fans but was no stranger to those in the US. He was the DJ sited as being responsible for coining the phrase ‘rock ‘n’ roll’.

Marc Bolan crammed more into his all too brief time than most of us would achieve in several lifetimes. Reading his biography, it was almost as if he was destined to become a star.  On September 16, 1977, he was killed when the Mini he was a passenger in collided with a tree in Barnes, West London. He was just two weeks short of his 30th birthday. The tree is now a permanent shrine to his memory, always bedecked with flowers and tributes.
