Description

Fantastically RARE 78 rpm record in virtually Near Mint condition, sleeved in the original paper sleeve from the original store stock. Ora-Nelle 711 and 712 are reputed to be the first postwar blues records circa 1947. This auction is for Ora-Nelle # 711 by Little Walter, Ora-Nelle Blues and I Just Keep Loving Her.
I purchased this record (and the other Ora-Nelle 78 listed separately) directly from the Maxwell Street Radio Record Company store at 831 Maxwell sometime between 1969 and 1971. The record has been most carefully protected in all the subsequent years. It has been played less than 4 times at most, and not at all since about 1970. My recollection is that it played well and true when it was last on a turntable though I can make no guarantee how it will perform today. The surface is clean and free of grease, wax or gum; there is no writing on the labels or disc, what dust is present is minimal and likely from the brown paper sleeve. There are no surface scratches.
I was one of Johnny Young's harp players from approximately 1972 up to his untimely passing in 1974. From the late '60s to the mid-70s, I was also active with Sunnyland Slim, Fred Below, Sam Lay and others. Before that I was in the (in)famous teenage blues-punk band The Dirty Wurds. Little Walter sang, "I Hate To See You Go," and it's with that emotion that I find myself giving up these treasures from my misspent youth.
I am sensitive to the standards of discriminating collectors; I sell vintage art, books and toys on eBay and have a 100% feedback rating. Please email with any questions you may have. The record will be packed securely in a box with inner reinforcement to guarantee safe delivery. Please understand that the degree of packaging that you as buyer, and I as seller, desire for this transaction is a bit more expensive than eBay's mandated Media Mail rate. For this reason, please wait for my invoice after you have become the winning bidder.
