Description
Legendary DIY punk classic from Robin Hood country. A milestone in Do-It-Yourself punk history. This rarity, their 2nd single, was released on Ed Ball’s (of TIMES) own private mini-label ‘King’s Road’ records in 1979 (matrix number KR-002). The label name is rubber-stamped on the white label etiquettes. Also both labels feature an O-LEVEL sticker which shows the tracks on each side. In other words, it’s a typical private DIY punk release and is just soooo great. You can listen to the winners ‘Leave Me’ and ‘Stairway To Boredom’ plus the super-dooooper DIY punk anthems ‘We Love Malcolm’ and ‘Everybody’s On Revolver Tonite’. "Revolver" was a UK TV programme from 1978 that only ran for one season and featured the likes of the RICH KIDS and TRB. As you know the line-up of their first 7” was Dan Treacy of TELEVISION PERSONALITIES plus John and Gerrard Bennet of REACTA. Here on the ‘Malcolm’ EP the line-up is named as Paddy O’Level, Mick O’Level, Brendan O’Level and Joe O’Level but in fact all tracks are played and sung by Edward Ball who later founded The TIMES and TEENAGE FILMSTARS. What a shame, O LEVEL only ever issued two 7” records. Sleeve and vinyl are still in excellent condition.
