~ condition ~

record is in Near Mint Condition and has been
fully play tested and it sounds awesome and it all plays
without any skips or repeats & the vinyl is
extremely shiny & clean

the cover is in still in the original shrinkwrap and
is in Fantastic Condition with bold bright printing and
has no seam splits, writing or markings & only has the
slightest wear to the corners & the shrinkwrap is very
shiny & clean but the top edge of the shrink is split
and  so is the opening edge side, but it is all here

the inner sleeve is in fantastic condition

displays & plays really nicely!

~ matrix #'s ~

side one : ST-A-732783-J    @GP(?)    1-1    1
side two : ST-A-732784-X4J    etGP(?)   1-1

the above is 'scrawled' into the dead wax and
each side also has a mastering stamper that looks
like a sideways S with an R and a C intertwined

~ review ~

Houses of the Holy follows the same basic
pattern as Led Zeppelin IV, but the approach is
looser and more relaxed. Jimmy Page's riffs rely on
ringing, folky hooks as much as huge thundering
blues-rock, giving the album a lighter more open
atmosphere. While the pseudo-reggae of "D'Yer Mak'er"
and the affectionate James Brown send-up "The Crunge"
suggest that the band was searching for material,
they actually contribute to the musical diversity here
and "The Rain Song" is one of Zep's finest moments
with its soaring strings and gentle aching melody and
"The Ocean" is just as good, starting with a heavy
funky guitar groove before slamming into an a cappella
section and ending with a swinging doo wop-flavored
rave-up & with the exception of the rampaging "The
Song Remains the Same" the rest of Houses of the Holy
is fairly straightforward ranging from the foreboding
"No Quarter" & the strutting hard rock of "Dancing Days"
to the epic folk/metal of "Over the Hills and Far Away"
and throughout the record the playing is excellent
making the eclecticism of Page & Robert Plant's
songwriting sound coherent and natural
