Description

Northern Soul / R&B, Dorie Williams, Tell Me Everything You Know b/w Your Turn to Cry, 635 Records, VG+.


Two brilliant sides which explains how in demand this single is. Vinyl on both sides has a few marks and tiny hairlines but the sound is excellent even on my ultra sensitive home system.


Tell Me side has no faults. Your Turn side has a couple of tiny areas of crackle and a pop. Bit of label wear and what looks like a small water mark on the 'Your Turn' side but nothing major so VG+ overall.


UPDATE / CLARIFCATION: In response to some questions, I need to clarify that this is NOT a boot, carver or repress but has some differences to other copies you may have seen. There is absolutely no difference in the recording, but the label and matrix number are different to other copies.

Key differences:

  • Joushie Armstead is shown as the writer of both sides (other copies show Donald Wade and Chuck Flamingo /J. Armstead)
  • Cat number is 45-636 (other copies show 45-635 which is actually the cat number of 'Trapped' released by Wesley Paige on the same label which WAS actually written by Jo Armstead) 
  • The scratched matrix number on this version is TN2603 & TN2604 (I understand some other copies have MTN2603 & MTN2604 which is the same as the number on the label)
  • This version says it is a Jack Taylor production (other versions are a Jack Taylor & Reggie Orbrecht Production)
I've always assumed that this was an earlier press with an incorrect writer and production credit on the label (basically just reusing the info from 'Trapped) which was then corrected, but the cat number was then wrong on the next label. 
I've only seen this label type for sale a handful of times in 30 years of collecting so haven't really got a lot to compare it with. Either way, the labels of every copy are wrong on some level! If anyone does know why the same track has two different (wrong) labels feel free to message me as I'd love to know for certain!
