About this item:

“... a defining portrait of an artist whose grasp of the past creates ageless, enduring music for any year… A moving, intensely personal and wildly creative set that ranks as one of 2017’s finest works." - American Songwriter (4 out of 5 stars)

“Atkins doesn't treat getting sober and navigating major life transitions as a somber affair… Audacious is more like it, and her album's all the more riveting for her resistance to being buttoned-up… animated by a spirit of impulsiveness, it's also very much the product of artful craft, burnished not only by the symphonic production, but her Brill Building-style grasp of rich melody and sturdy structure.” - NPR First Listen (July 2017)

“Aching pop-soul bathed in the nostalgic warmth of another era… [with] imprints of Dusty Springfield or Carol King… Atkins is also possessed with a singular, torchy voice that floods these songs with genuine fervor.” – Uncut (June 2017)

" [Sleepwalking is] a timeless song of haunting dreams" - Consequence of Sound (June 2017)

“Channeling Dusty Springfield… sounds like the soundtrack to a long-lost Mad Men scene.” -NME (June 2017)

“As ever, it's the songcraft, carried by that formidable voice, that fires Atkins' creative impetus. The result is intimate and arresting.” - The Skinny (July 2017)

“With striking neo-soul horns and orchestration that would make Amy Winehouse proud, Atkins opens by bending the imagination from the get-go.” - Bluegrass Situation

Nicole Atkins is a rare artist whose timeless songwriting and raw, emotional voice spans the ages - a miasma of faded glamour and nostalgic pop noir.  Goodnight Rhonda Lee, the 4th studio album from Nicole Atkins, was produced by the team at Niles City Sound (Leon Bridges) in Fort Worth, Texas and mixed by Ben Tanner (Alabama Shakes) in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.  Co-writers on the record include Chris Isaak and Jim Sclavunos (Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds).

Nicole was a guest star on Cameron Crowe’s Showtime series Roadies, where she debuted material from this record.  Nicole debuted even more from the record at SXSW 2017 before a monumental crowd opening for country star Garth Brooks.

Nicole’s television appearances have included The Late Show with David Letterman, Conan, and Later… with Jools Holland, and she has been featured in dozens of magazines and newspapers, ranging from the New York Times to The Guardian (UK) to Time. She has toured internationally throughout the US and Europe, both headlining and also touring with Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Primal Scream and the Avett Brothers.
