Description
This Nick Drake 1st Press album, from 1969 has been in my collection for 42 years -from new, and has been played about 20 times. It has always been kept upright in a protective clear outer sleeve. The front cover is in near mint condition apart from a very slight crease on the bottom r/h corner ( see photo) . The inside covers are immaculate. The back cover however is a bit different. In the hazy days of my youth I used to mark my records and there is an imprint of my address at the time. The Pop Inn at Woodford, Essex sold me the record in 1969 and their light stamp is on the rear bottom r/h corner. Also in order to stop the cover fraying at the edge I put a clear adhesive tape along the rear opening side. ( See photo) The vinyl album itself is near mint -no scuffs or scratches, no spindle marks or clicks - plays beautifully. One again though, I had to "own" this album and put my initials in the middle of the "eye" ! ( see photo).
So there you are I've done my best to keep this beautiful album as safe as possible over the years but its important that I tell and show you the downsides! As you can gather the provenance of this album is clear. I have been a great fan of Nick's music from day one. Shortly before his tragic death I had the privelige of seeing him at the QE Hall supporting Fotheringay.- a magical evening.
I consider it would be an injustice to put a high starting price or a reserve on this wonderful album. I leave it to you guys!
