New Order Blue Monday JAPAN ONLY PROMO 7" Joy Division
Description
For sale is a copy of the unbelievably rare Japanese promo 7" of Blue Monday/Confusion from 1983. Made by Nippon Columbia to promote New Order's first releases in Japan, only 25 were ever manufactured. Today it is considered by many collectors to be the Holy Grail of New Order rarities.
Three things in particular make this item unique and particularly sought after.
1) It has totally unique sleeve art - a grey-on-yellow tilted Factory symbol.
2) This is the only 100% official version of Blue Monday to be made on 7" format - all others in the UK and elsewhere were manufactured on 12" (although there was a quasi/unoffical Polish Tonpress 45).
3) Perhaps most importantly, this record offers a completely unique mix of the song - a Blue Monday edit timing 4:09, as opposed to 7-minute+ standard version.
Finally, a potentially fourth unique aspect of this record is that it uniquely pairs the A-side with Confusion on the flip.
All in all, an essential collectible!!
Cat# TD-1098
Condition:
Sleeve: NM- The 2-sided insert is in great condition, but it does have remnants of two strips of horizontal sellotape/scotch tape on the front (these are often found on Japanese promotional records). The tape strips are clear, but show up as somewhat darker compared to the surrounding areas. Overall, though, they do not strongly detract from the appearance. (See pics). Reverse side is perfect.
Disc: NM- Disc shows some surface wear on both sides, light usage streaks and such, but these do not affect playback.
Record will be well-secured between thick cardboard stiffeners and sent in a customized record mailer.
Shipping will be EMS worldwide express service (usually arrives within 3 days). Includes tracking. Insurance optional.
