If you know what this is, you know how rare it is.
The ultimate recording by the New Lost City Ramblers that caused so much anger in the Folk Music world that it was recalled and Moses "Moe" Asch, head of Folkways, actually burned the remaining copies.
Why?
It's material is decidedly "off-color" and un-feminist. Politically incorrect to the max. Joan Baez fired the Ramblers from her tour and replaced them with the Greenbriar Boys. When they appeared at Newport, they had to write out a set list and stick to it. Censored, shunned, and lambasted by Sing Out magazine.
Here's the irony...by far, this is their best recording. The playing, singing, and the songs are a complete joy. It's obvious they had great fun making this recording, and it shows.
Featuring Bang Bang Lulu, Then It Won't Hurt No More, Women Wear No Clothes At All and My Sweet Farm Girl.
None of the NLCRamblers real names are used: Wilbur Seeger (Mike), McKinley Cohen (John) and Delmore Paley (Tom) are credited, however a picture of them appears on the back.
Very Good condition with lines. Jacket has a spot on back and front cover where price tags were and a catalog marking on rear. Top and bottom have some tape.
