Here’s a lovely copy of Nellie Melba performing "Voi Che Sapete” from The Marriage of Figaro.
It’s on a splendid Very Very Pale Lilac (well, more or less WHITE actually) label 12" UK G&T Gramophone And Typewriter “Melba Record” 78, number 053113. The Mx number is A or C 4353. It was recorded in New York in March 1907 (Thank you Robert Johannesson).
Nellie is accompanied by an orchestra.
Condition-wise, we would describe it as a darn good collectable example. It's clean and tidy, with a few small handling and storage marks. It plays very well, with very few clicks or clonks. It isn’t perfect, but it is remarkable for a 116 year old record.
It will give hours of innocent enjoyment to the discerning punter with a less capacious wallet.
Using"Record Collector" magazine's standards let's call it a VG+ or better, using that other system,let's call it E- or thereabouts, maybe better.
