Hello there, come on in and welcome to the auction!

I sell vinyl records with complete honesty and reliability. Above all things I am a record collector and music lover. I only sell records that I would want to receive. I know well the disappointment of receiving an over-graded record that turns up two weeks late. That is not the service you will receive here, so bid with total confidence. I don’t sell a lot of records because I spend a lot of time carefully finding, grading and listing them and do not like to rush this process, as many sellers must do to be able to sell 100 records a week!


I am mostly a collector of old time music, pre-war blues and folk, so buy job-lots that often contain rare records that aren’t to my taste so to ebay they go!

So here we have a MINT UK 1st pressing of Neil Young’s Zuma with 1st press sleeve and lyric card inner.

1st presses of these are very rare and can be signified by the original textured and grooved reprise label with Allen minutely etched into deadwax.

As with all first presses it comes with the elusive lyric tri-foldout.

Having apparently exorcised his demons by releasing the cathartic Tonight's the Night, Neil Young returned to his commercial strengths with Zuma (named after Zuma Beach in Los Angeles, where he now owned a house). Seven of the album's nine songs were recorded with the reunited Crazy Horse, in which rhythm guitarist Frank Sampedro had replaced the late Danny Whitten, but there were also nods to other popular Young styles in "Pardon My Heart," an acoustic song that would have fit on Harvest, his most popular album, and "Through My Sails," retrieved from one of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young's abortive recording sessions. Young had abandoned the ragged, first-take approach of his previous three albums, but Crazy Horse would never be a polished act, and the music had a lively sound well-suited to the songs, which were some of the most melodic, pop-oriented tunes Young had crafted in years, though they were played with an electric-guitar-drenched rock intensity. The overall theme concerned romantic conflict, with lyrics that lamented lost love and sometimes longed for a return ("Pardon My Heart" even found Young singing, "I don't believe this song"), though the overall conclusion, notably in such catchy songs as "Don't Cry No Tears" and "Lookin' for a Love," was to move on to the next relationship. But the album's standout track (apparently the only holdover from an early intention to present songs with historical subjects) was the seven-and-a-half-minute epic "Cortez the Killer," a commentary on the Spanish conqueror of Latin America that served as a platform for Young's most extensive guitar soloing since his work on Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere

Sleeve Condition.

The original UK 1st issue sleeve looks as good as as the day that it was made in my opinion with only the mildest shelf wear to the corners. All the sides are nice and sharp with a perfectly readable wearless spine. Looks almost new! It has a small sticker removal at the top right that takes it from mint to excellent +

Inner Condition.

The first press card inner (first presses have curved edges which were quickly replaced) is in excellent + condition with no splits, stains etc. Just the mildest of colouring to mention!

The first trifold lyric pullout that you barely ever see and only came with a very limited run of this record is as new!

Not a spindle in sight! No rips, rubs or stains!

Vinyl Visual Condition.

The record itself looks perfect on eye inspection!  It still retains its factory shine and lustre and looks as new. Under a halogen, not a single hairline can be seen! Just the ghost like removals of a new vinyl!

The record sounded perfect from start to finish.  Very punchy and crisp with other pops, skips or warping. Young has never sounded better than he does on this rare release! Final upgrade!!

All my records are sent first class, tracked and signed for. Where insurance is needed, the cost will be covered by myself. I will endeavour to post all records a day after payment is made.

Records will be sent in defenda-box mailers which are strong corrugate cardboard boxes ensuring that no bending can take place. They are in essence bomb proof!

Records will be sent housed in new poly-lined inners outside of the sleeve to protect both the sleeve and original inner

I hand clean records with Clear groove and a microfiber cloth, however, if you use your own system or machine and would prefer I didn’t, then please ask.
