Description

An original 1st press of Harvest on the UK Reprise label from 1972. Matrix A3/B2. Please note label is consistent with 1st press and there's no mention of the Warners logo which you would find just 12 months later, or 'Made In UK'. The vinyl comes housed in that stonkingly hard to find in good condition textured G&L gatefold cover. Also included is the original lyric sheet and the original generic white inner 'made in England'. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In super condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one slight deviation. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that, with Young's delicate delivery, only a truly well preserved copy is going to stand half a chance of delivering a clean accurate rendition. And this copy doesn't disappoint....with some great audio to thoroughly impress. Intros and inbetweens are pretty much silent and the audio comes across with great clarity and authority. Interference is very minor and infrequent. All I could detect were a few crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side. The deviation is in 'Heart Of Gold' - perhaps due to it's inevitable popularity. Midway through I just get a couple of one second bursts of crackle/distortion. Very fleeting and, given the top-level delivery of the rest of the LP, not all that much of a compromise.
Cover (Ex/Ex+) Well, I really think this cover is a bit of a one-off. These Harvest covers have a real reputation for being incredibly hard to source in decent condition. I can honestly say I've never seen a better example than this one. It appears to have pretty much avoided the ageing process. Both front and back look very very clean and fresh. There are no signs of grubbiness or marks or wear. Like I said - I don't think many copies will be looking like this after 47 years! The interior is pretty much faultless. Edge is pretty much non-existent and the openings sharp. The spine is 100% intact - literally perfect. I mean that's gotta be unusual right? Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Lyric insert (Ex) No issues relatively unaged as far as I can tell.
Inner (Ex-) No splits. Light ageing at extremities.
