EXTREMELY RARE and HIGHLY SOUGHT by COLLECTORS! NEIL YOUNG "AFTER THE GOLD RUSH" Original RED COVER TITLE!!! Exceptionally difficult to find! Reprise Records (RS 6383); 1970; gatefold cover!
When Capitol Records took over record manufacturing for Warner Bros./Reprise Records from CBS, early attempts at pressing back catalog titles produced some interesting factory errors, & one of the most-unexplainable was the "After The Gold Rush" covers with the title printed in RED instead of GOLD. Quickly withdrawn, this RARE printing error cover (in any condition) is immensely rare and nearly impossible to find in this beautiful condition, primarily as a result of the record company's 's lack of cover varnish, which easily facilitates an easily-worn cover.
As for the album itself, this masterpiece features some of Neil Young's most enduring, ageless murals of quintessential song compositions: The achingly mournful "Don't Let it Bring You Down;" the intensely yearning of "When You Dance I Can Really Love" and "Only Love Can Break Your Heart," and the harrowing realism of "Southern Man."
The music, the sound, the posture, the demeanor of Neil Young at this stage of his glorious career surfaced the roots of Grunge music that he cast seed to as early as the late 1960s. This was the birth and inspiration for the ultra real music that came in from the rainy suppressions of Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, and so many others in the early 1990s.
EXCELLENT Vinyl!!! The vinyl is super clean, but has a slightly audible pop here and there. Nothing significant. EXCELLENT Cover!!! Absolutely beautiful with hardly any wear of particular note.
