 You are bidding on the rare LP:

Nashville- The Early String Bands, Volume 1, released by County Records (541-A/B) in 1976 out of Floyd, VA.  Original Pressing!- (black label with gray text).  Includes the 13-page booklet of liner notes.

*1920's Nashville does not get the proper credit that it deserves, and this LP proves it!  Every recording here, from the golden age of "hillbilly" music, is just fantastic.  You'll hear two of Dr. Humphrey Bates & his Possum Hunters' highly eccentric square dance breakdowns, "My Wife Died Saturday Night" & "Throw the Old Cow Over the Fence", as well as two of their beautiful mountain fiddle instrumentals, "Eighth of January" & "Green Backed Dollar Bill".  Uncle Bunt Stephens' "Candy Girl" proves that he made some of the most beautiful fiddle music the world has ever heard, and you'll hear similar brilliant mountain fiddle styles with two obscure cuts by Paul Warmack & his Gully Jumpers.  I'd love to find a lyrical transcription of one of Uncle Dave Macon's greatest recordings, the brilliant "Railroadin' & Gamblin'".  Sam & Kirk McGee's 'Salt Lake City Blues" is a highly unique example of white violin blues, and the performance is incredibly raw & wonderful.  Sam McGee's "Chevrolet Car" is a timeless medicine show classic.  Binkley Brothers' Dixie Clodhoppers' "Give Me Back My Fifteen Cents" is as hilarious as stringband breakdowns get.  The booklet of liner notes is just wonderful, featuring a descriptive history of the earliest days of the Grand Ole Opry and some classic photos of the bands in "hillbilly" get-ups (at the record producers request).  This release will open your eyes and prove that the earliest days of the Opry was just as impressive as any other era of this sacred Country music institution.*

The Vinyl is visually graded in VG+ condition.  When looked at under a very bright light, the record shows a very rich luster and a few, very light surface marks. 

The Cover is graded in VG condition, showing a considerable amount of edge & seam wear.  Overall, it still looks very nice.

Shipping is calculated by ebay at the actual cost for you, the consumer. I don't charge any extra fees for material or handling.

For combined shipping, please add $1 for each additional LP you purchase. If you buy many records from me, I can ship them all together in one box, and charge you the actual cost I pay at the post office. International customers, please keep in mind that once you reach 4 pounds (roughly 4 LPs+), 1st Class International is no longer a shipping option, and you must ship Priority or Express.

Insurance is your option as a buyer. International customers, please keep in mind that you can only insure your item if you ship Express, which can be very expensive. Please contact me if you would prefer this option.
