Item Description—

THE VALENTINES - "Lily Maebelle" b/w "Falling For You"

Label: Rama Records – RR-171

Format: 45 RPM 7" Single

Condition: Near Mint Gem! Investment Grade

A "Final Upgrade" Copy for the Serious Collector

Offered here is an museum-quality specimen of one of the most iconic mid-50s doo-wop records ever pressed. This is not just a filler copy; it is an investment-grade piece of history and likely one of the finest known survivors.

Condition Details—

• Vinyl: Deep, mirror-like glossy luster. The vinyl appears almost unplayed under bright light with no visible marks or scuffs.

• Labels: Clean, bright blue labels with crisp silver text. No spindle wear, no writing, and no "ring wear."

• Audio: Play-tested and sounds incredible. Expect a loud, clear, and punchy playback with the signature Rama fidelity.

• The Sleeve: Includes the rare original Rama first-design tan sleeve. These are rarely seen in any condition, let alone preserved alongside a record this clean.

Why This Copy?

If you are a "best of the best" collector, this is your final upgrade. The Valentines, led by Richard Barrett, defined the New York doo-wop sound, and "Lily Maebelle" is their crowning achievement. Finding this 1955 treasure in this "time capsule" state is a once-in-a-decade opportunity.

My Visual Grading Scale—

Mint: A new record. I will rarely if ever use this grade.

Near Mint Gem: My highest grade. A truly beautiful record approaching mint condition. Will satisfy the most discerning collector.

Near Mint (NM): Appears almost unplayed. May show slight signs of handling or sleeve wear but no scratches or scuffs. Retains original gloss. Labels will be near perfect. A very high grade record that will satisfy almost any collector. The highest grade I will normally use.

Excellent (Exc): May have a few very light unfeelable scratches or scattered paper scuffs. Retains much of it’s original gloss. A high grade record that will satisfy a demanding collector. Labels will show very little wear.

Very Good Plus (VG+): Will have several light unfeelable scratches or scuffs. May retain some original gloss. Labels may show light wear. Still a very collectible record.

Very Good (VG): Will have quite a few light scratches or scuffs or other issues and possibly a few feelable ones. Labels may show a fair amount of wear. Record will appear a bit worn. Still a collectible record that will satisfy undemanding collectors.

Good (G): Record will have many scratches (some deep), scuffs or other issues. Labels may show heavy wear. Will appear very worn. The lowest grade I will ever offer.
