Description Summary When Roger Daltrey and Wilko Johnson released the album Going Back Home last year, it marked the return of three great names to the top of the charts. What was fitting was that Going Back Home, a gritty and electrifying latter day lesson in rocking rhythm & blues, was issued on the Chess label, the original home of electric blues as it was rock an roll, soul, gospel and jazz. The success of Going Back Home inked another chapter in the history of a truly legendary label.One of Chess Records’ greatest gifts to the world was releasing some of the most brilliantly recorded 7” singles ever committed to wax. Now, as Chess turns 65 years old, Northern Soul oracle Ady Croasdell has opened the label’s vaults to bring together an outstanding collection of hugely collectable vinyl movers & stompers that left their dancefloor imprint on Britain’s choicest Northern Soul clubs.
