This is the first version with an image of journalist Emerson superimposed on Lou Reed's face on the backcover. This is known as the "torso" version.
The second version has a sticker blotting this out.
The third version has it airbrushed away.
Very rare and sought after record, previous auctions have been known to go up as high as $4000.
Condition – Vinyl: Visually graded as VERY GOOD +
Audio grade is EXCELLENT +
Label grade is EXCELLENT with only minor spindle marks.
The record shows a number of hairline paper scuffs. In my opinion it is the perfect example of a very good + record. No higher and no lower, visually.
Play testing the record though proved a remarkably quiet background noise when I dropped the stylus. It sounded as if it had rarely, if ever, been played.
Buyers will not be disappointed with the quality of this vinyl.
Note - this is the RARER of the Torso releases, the East Coast pressing.
Condition – Cover: Visually graded as EXCELLENT ++
The cover retains it's original white sheen with virtually no sleeve wear or ring wear.
The banana sticker is intact aside from the stem.
Labels on the spine are clean, includes the original inner sleeve.
If this was brand new in a shop today alongside other record sleeves I would grade it EX++. Considering it is almost 50 years old though I am inclined to say that it is
borderline NEAR MINT. For a torso cover that is incredibly rare.
