DESCRIPTION:  Original  STEREO release.  The vinyl looks near mint with a few paper scuffs that DO NOT affect play.  High lustre. It plays very close to new. Certainly better than your usual near mint copy. The labels are perfect.  The cover has a has most slight ringwear, the edges and corners are quite clean.  The only thing preventing me grading the cover near mint, is the  pink sticker on the front.

This pyschedelic masterpiece is one tremendous work.  You will be hard pressed to find a better playing copy.

I have re-listed this to sale and there is NO RESERVE.

After his beginnings as a gentle, melodic baroque folk-rocker, Buckley gradually evolved into a downright experimental singer/songwriter who explored both jazz and avant-garde territory. Starsailor is the culmination of his experimentation and alienated far more listeners than it exhilarated upon its release in 1970. Buckley had already begun to delve into jazz fusion on late-'60s records like Happy Sad, and explored some fairly "out" acrobatic, quasi-operatic vocals on his final Elektra LP, Lorca. With former Mother of Invention Bunk Gardner augmenting Buckley's group on sax and alto flute, Buckley applies vocal gymnastics to a set of material that's as avant-garde in its songwriting as its execution. At his most anguished (which is often on this album), he sounds as if his liver is being torn out -- slowly. Almost as if to prove he can still deliver a mellow buzz, he throws in a couple of pleasant jazz-pop cuts, including the odd, jaunty French tune "Moulin Rouge." Surrealistic lyrics, heavy on landscape imagery like rivers, skies, suns, and jungle fires, top off a record that isn't for everybody, or even for every Buckley fan, but endures as one of the most uncompromising statements ever made by a singer/songwriter.

  My record grading is conservative using the GOLDMINE STANDARD 

 Most records I list are PLAY GRADED.  If it is not play graded I will say so.

M- (mint minus)  About the best you can possibly get. Occasionally I will sell a record that is superlative and better than a near mint copy.  I do not believe any record is truly MINT.

 NM (near mint) A very fine record.  May have a few very slight imperfections such as an occasional slight pop or clik.  The cover may have a very slight crease, bumped corner or minor VERY light ring wear - BUT OTHERWISE WILL APPEAR AS NEW.

EXC (excellent)  I use this rating on a record or cover that falls between NEAR MINT and VERY GOOD PLUS

VG+ (very good plus) A very nice copy.  Generally worth 50% of the NEAR MINT value.  Will show signs of wear and handling but will still play very well with occasional MINOR interference.  Covers can have a few things wrong but will still be quite representable.

VG (very good) A nice playing copy that has more obvious signs of wear including some discernable surface noise, especially in quiter passages; some lack of lustre; light scratches that can be felt with a fingernail, that will affect the sound. Generally worth 25% of the near mint value.  Despite obvious flaws it should still be an enjoyable record to play.  Covers and labels may have stickers, residues, writing, taping AND/OR seam splitting.

VG- (very good minus)  Has seen better days, will play through without skipping, but can still be mostly enjoyable despite more obvious flaws than in a VG copy.

G (good)  Although it will still play through without skipping it will have significant flaws and background noise. I will not sell a record in GOOD condition unless it is VERY RARE.
