This is THE SHIRELLES Rarest USA album release which ocurred in 1965. Scepter Records issued the group's first album in actual STEREO. The "1961" 1st issue was only released in Mono. Scepter Records was hoping to gain the public's interest by the having the album issued in gorgeous Stereo.. But, by then, The Supremes were reigning "supreme" and this Scepter album sold very poorly.
Early record price guides did not even mention the Stereo release. No one knew they even existed!
This is "Tonight's The Night" on Scepter S-501 in Stereo. Includes the original hits "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow", "Dedicated To The One I Love" along with "Boys"! Such sweet, sweet sound you have never heard.
And, in fact, The Beatles covered "Boys" on their first album in early 1963. Ringo did the singing and the group pretty much stayed true to The Shirelles version. The fab four also covered The Shirelles "Baby, It's You" on the same album. John, Paul, George and Ringo were obviously big fans.
Comes in the original shrink wrap with "Barker's Record's Price Tag" attached to the shrink. There is a Stereo label attached to the cover. At the time, this album was selling for only 59 cents. Comes with the original Scepter inner sleeve.
The cover is graded at MINT 9 with one corner ding on the cover and beautiful seams and spine. A beautiful white back and superb white borders.
The record has shimmering, glistening vinyl with some light, very thin paper whiskers that show up under a bright light. This album is a real treat to find in this condition.
