Description
This is a rare original UK stereo LP copy of Nirvana's withdrawn 'Dedicated to Markos III' LP on the Pye International label (NSPL 28132) of 1970, and is consequently this pop/psych duo's 'difficult third album' in that it's not easy to get hold of. Not then, not now. Its release was scuppered by label collapse with very few copies managing to find their way onto turntables. Be assured that the withdrawal of the release certainly had nothing to do with the quality of the music - this album contains some of this pop/psych duo's finest work (including the superlative Black Flower) with backing by Spooky Tooth (or 'Spookey Tooth' as they are credited on the cover!) and arrangements by Tony Visconti. Although this record has been played it has certainly never been abused. The labels show up a certain amount of spindle wear (see photos) but the disc performs brilliantly, without clicking, jumping or sticking, and the music is bright and clear. This rare pressing is in comfortable G+ condition (UK Record Collector grading) with just a few (four or five) light but non-sounding marks. Both sides are shiny and black as new and the disc lies perfectly flat on the turntable. This record most definitely does not suffer from the usual depressing morass of marks that denotes an uncared for passed from party to party record. The front laminated flipback Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve is also a comfortable G+, in generally strong condition but with the laminated front now clearly showing an impression of the disc within, together with plentiful (half moon-type) creasing along the opening edge and some rubbing at the corners; the unlaminated flipback rear is remarkably clean with no writing, no sticker tears, no creasing and only the slightest sign of ringwear (see additional flipback corner pics). In conclusion then, here is a very reasonable and playable original copy of Nirvana's most elusive 'non-release'.
