Nirvana : Local Anaesthetic 1Y1 / 2Y1 1st Press Vertigo 1971
This first pressing plays to an incredible standard and has to be the most 'complete' version I have ever listened to.  S1 is pristine from start to finish with no background of any kind and I stand by my Mint grading there.  I am not one of these 'graders' who says how can a track / album be graded as Mint when it has been played.  Why not?  If it has only been played once or a handful of times, has literally no background and sonically has not diminished in any way then I am perfectly happy to grade in such a way.  And this S1 is the definitive S1!  The clarity, depth and warmth of the audio is phenomenal.  S2 is very very close to that.  It has just one staticy click type sound right at the start, it is very brief, but from then onwards the sonic quality matches S1 in every way.  This truly is a stunning first press and whilst this album may not capture the typical Nirvana sound as much their three previous albums there are certainly glimpses of it and especially on S2.  The vinyl is also in lovely condition and has clearly only been very lightly played.
The cover and for good reason is often regarded as one of Keef's finest and it remains in excellent condition with only a little shelf wear.  The original Vertigo inner (dated 0171) has some discolouration mainly around the edges but is still in excellent order.
This first press variant is not actually shown on Discogs and 112 / 111 must be the earliest!

Visual description
The vinyl is in lovely condition and still has a fine glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  Under a strong bright I can only see a small number of ultra faint hairlines and there is nothing that stands out - minor and purely superficial.  There is no groove or surface wear and the run out grooves are very clean also.  The Vertigo labels are close to perfect with very little spindle wear and as stated there is a big piece of vinyl 'flecking' still on the S1 spindle hole.
Play grading
The very quiet build up intro on 'Modus Operandi' has no background, the clarity is incredible, and the remainder of this section is just as clean.  What a start!  The opening vocal section is perfect and the instrumentals around it have no intrusion either, not a single dust tick even.  The If you can't have a... vocal passage plays with sublime clarity as does the percussive section that follows.  Next up is a very quiet section and the clarity of sound is quite simply STUNNING!  I cannot overstate just how pristine the audio is and when I say Mint I mean Mint with a capital M!  The faster paced vocal section keeps up the standard and the first extended instrumental around 7 minutes could not play any better.  The clarity, depth and power of the audio is second to none and so far it is no exaggeration to say this first press is playing 'as new'.  The next vocal is flawless and it continues to impress on so many levels.  The long closing instrumental section has a progressive jazzy feel to it and again sonically it is out of the stratosphere!  It just has to be played loud - the power and definition of the audio is phenomenal stunning and the fade out has no background either.  This is without doubt the most stunning example of this opus that I have ever heard and I am 100% confident in grading it as Mint and that is because there is literally no background from the first note to the last.  Pure audio perfection.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'Salutation' is the first part of 'Home' and it does have quite a loud static tick sound right at the start but aside from that this percussive / bass intro plays perfectly.  The few seconds of silence have no background and the next section is faultless.  The harpsichord passage (Nirvana of old) plays with exceptional clarity and the opening vocal is equal to that.  The instrumental bridge is 'as new' as is the next vocal section and the concluding instrumental is superb with no intrusion of any kind.  In a way it's difficult to grade because 99.5% plays to perfection and it's only that one millisecond of interference that stops it from being Mint.  I think Near Mint is fair.  The long fade out by the way plays with incredible clarity and... zero background.   The intro on 'Construction' is of the same high end standard and Campbell-Lyon's opening vocal section again belies the age of the record.  Crystal clear audio comes to mind - you would not believe how clean and precise the audio is.  The instrumental is on the same level and the end 'choral' type vocal / fade out have no background.  Undoubtedly a Mint version.
'Destruction' plays with outstanding audio through every vocal and instrumental section.  No need to detail each section as they all play as good as each other!  There are ticks, clicks or pops, no underlying static and no distortion either.  Mint   The piano led intro on 'Re-construction' plays with sublime clarity and warmth and the first vocal is equal to that.  Once again I tip my hat to the clarity and definition of the audio and especially because it is so near the end.  There is no inner groove distortion and sonically could not be improved upon.  Every vocal and instrumental play with remarkable quality and that includes the fade out.  Another Mint track.
The very brief 'Fanfare' closes the album in fine style with no static etc.  I cannot fault it and it has to grade as Mint
The Gatefold & Vertigo Swirl Inner
This iconic Keef cover, surely one of his best, is in excellent condition with only a little wear.  The edges are clean with only minimal rubbing and the wide spine is 100% legible with only a couple of tiny 'rubs' and a little wear on the corners.  The right hand corners again have only minor wear and the opening edge is near perfect with hardly any handling wear.  The right hand edge of the front cover has some rubbing but not an extensive amount.  The front cover itself is very clean overall with a handful of small 'speck' marks near the top left corner, maybe the remnants of a sticker.  The back cover is superb with barely any marking, just minor rubs on the corners, and the inside of the gatefold just has a little marking around the spine near the top.  Apart from that it is in great shape - a strong example overall.
The original poly-lined Vertigo inner (dated 0171) has no side splits or tears and remains in excellent shape.  It does have some browning / age related fading around the edges and also a sticker in one corner.  Very little creasing though.

Postage & Packaging

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
