MONO PRESSING.
This is an original first and very earliest AND SERIOUSLY RARE MONO UK pressing of THE MARBLE INDEX, a true masterpiece of challenging music by the one and only, NICO of THE VELVET UNDERGROUND. It is also a truly beautifully made record. As you can see this is the much rarer and highly sort after MONO version of this great LP. This fact is confirmed by the EKL cat number, the STEREO version had the cat number EKS 4029. The fully laminated sleeve has a few small laminate cracks and if you double click the pictures you will see some laminate lift near the spine .There is very slight ring wear to the front ,so light it is only visible when the jacket is tilted in the light. The spine is in excellent order with all spinal writings undamaged and it has still retained its square condition. So the sleeve is EXCELLENT MINUS condition. The original UK MADE IN THE UK inner sleeve is present and in great condition. Under normal lighting both sides of the vinyl look in mint condition only when you go into a much brighter spotlight and tilt the record you will see the very lightest paper scuffs and hairlines. But as I have said these are not there under normal house lighting.Both sides of the vinyl have retained that new look glossy high luster sheen indicating little or careful use of the record. Both sides play magnificently well with no flaws what so ever. Double click the pictures and have a look at those beautiful red Elektra labels with the silver typeset. STUNNING. The center of the labels are textured to the touch and the outer label baring the ALL RIGHTS text is smooth. Later pressings were smooth all the way. So I am happy to grade the vinyl EXCELLENT MINUS. This LP is seriously challenging but keep playing it and eventually it will seep through and I have always believed you get much more enjoyment out of the albums that challenge you the most.It is a true piece of art and an ORIGINAL MONO 1968 UK pressing in condition like this is a truly rare, RARE thing. All my records are housed in Mobile Fidelity Mastering Sleeves. This prevents further paper scuffs marking the vinyl when removing the record from the original inner sleeve and prolongs the condition of the original inner sleeve .
