Records are visually graded, but I do listen to intros for crackle and clarity, and play through any marks. Please read the entire listing to avoid any misunderstanding.

NICK DRAKE – FIVE LEAVES LEFT – 1969 ORLAKE PRESSING – TEXTURED LABEL – VG/VG

This rare copy of Five leaves Left is the version pressed by Orlake Records of Dagenham, with textured labels that have a raised smooth rim around the edge.
Released on a pink Island label with black ''block'' logo, in a gatefold sleeve.
'Day Is Done' & 'Way To Blue' track listing is reversed on the rear of the sleeve, but the label is correct and the album plays 'Way to Blue' followed by 'Day is Done'.

Matrices with + signs separating the various elements and ending in a reversed C: ILPS+9105+A ? and ILPS+9105+B ?.

Discogs database has this version being released in September 1969, which is the same date as the 1st pressing, but I don’t know if Orlake used the original masters making this part of the 1st press or not, but it seems likely.

VG grading may be a bit harsh because it plays well, but I prefer to grade conservatively so there are no disappointments.

Looks super in natural light, with a high gloss to the vinyl. In a bright light, side one is almost spotless and side two has a few very fine lines – I’ve tried several times and I can’t get them to come out in a photograph. There are some very light stain lines around the edge of the labels.

Preparing to sell it, I’ve played the whole album through several times. It plays well, no sticks and no jumps, sound quality is superb. However, there are occasional pops or clicks (nothing particularly loud or scary) and a light background crackle that occurs intermittently throughout. It’s not continuous, sometimes it’s very light indeed and sometimes it disappears altogether. For me, there is nothing that dominates the music. It could possibly be improved with a professional clean.

Comes in the original inner with “UK Patent No 1,072,844 Foreign Patents Pending” text in blue. Slightly faded but good to have.

Gatefold sleeve is also VG with rubbed edges, spine and corners, also a sticker mark on the front at top right, inside is clean.

Rather frustrated by eBay’s max of 12 photos, if anyone needs any other specific images, please message me.

Please look carefully at the photos as they are part of the description.
