Description

This is the original UK LP by NICK DRAKE, PINK MOON, stereo, released in Febuary 1972,  1st press on the ISLAND PINK RIM label with Palm Tree logo,  ILPS 9184. Matrix numbers are,  SIDE 1:-  ILPS 9184 A-1U,  SIDE 2:-  ILPS 9184 B-1U, stamper codes are,  SIDE 1:- 1 / A,  SIDE 2:-  1 / T.

Its incrediable to think that this LP was recorded in two nights!  Nick Drake was crippled by his shyness and sufferred from depression, and after a spell in Europe came back to record this tortured masterpiece 'PINK MOON'. The feel of the album moves away from his previous two LP's, to spare haunting songs that are cloaked in regret and dissillusionment. The bleak tone only lets up occasionally as Drake attempted to exocise his demons over a skeletal acoustic backing, in fact him and only him feature on the LP, guitar, piano and vocal's.

Pink Moon was the last album that Nick Drake released, as previously, because of his crippling shyness and the non-exsistant live promotion of his Lp's,  Pink Moon was a commerical failure. Drake's mood  blackened further , although he did start to work on a new album in 1973. He spent time in France with singer/friend Francoise Hardy and his bouts of depression diminished when he decided to live there pernamently. However, this didn't last long and he sadly overdosed on anti-depressants on 25th November 1974, a tragic end to a troubled but brlliant career.

The original 1972 UK Tinsley Robor Group Ltd gatefold cover is in EX+++ condition, lovely and clean, the outside maintaining all it's original bright vibrant colour, the inside is lovely and clean and fresh, their is no unwanted writing and no seam splits, the spine is fully intact and perfectly readable, a notiously hard cover to find in nice condition, and this one is beautiful!.
