The New York Dolls is an American rock band, formed in New York in 1971. The band's protopunk sound prefigured much of what was to come in the punk rock era; their visual style influenced the look of many new wave and 1980s-era glam metal groups, and they began the local New York scene that later spawned the Ramones, Blondie, Television and Talking Heads.

New York Dolls is the first album released by the American rock band the New York Dolls. The album's protopunk sound is mixed with influences of glam rock and rock & roll. It was produced by ex-Nazz guitarist Todd Rundgren. In 2003, the album was ranked number 213 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. The track "  Personality Crisis"   is ranked #267 on the Rolling Stone magazine's list of "the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time".

In August 2010, Morrissey submitted a list to the online publication The Quietus detailing his favorite albums. In it, he declared New York Dolls as his top favorite.

Original 1973 1st pressing on Mercury Records with the "PINK" back cover. Not a re-issue, No barcode. This LP is STILL SEALED in it's original shrinkwrap. There are no cut-outs or punch holes. The corners are sharp. The shrink is tight, with a tear in the middle of the back side. There is no wear to the cover. This rare 1st pressing will have the original 2-sided printed-art inner sleeve and the "lipstick" labels on the record. This is a VERY hard-to-find SEALED 1st copy!!! Looks like it just came from the record store. Don't pass up this chance!!! LP is in nearly MINT condition.
