NEIL YOUNG "Harvest Moon" 1992 REPRISE w/LYRIC INNER EXCELLENT COPY, UNPLAYED?, DEEP, RICH & WARM SOUND

NEIL YOUNG
Harvest Moon

REPRISE (9362-45057-1) ORIGINAL PRESSING (October 1992) OF NEIL YOUNG'S BEAUTIFUL AND MELANCHOLY "Harvest Moon" LP IN SUPERB CONDITION (possibly completely unplayed as the labels show no signs of use and the vinyl surfaces are practically unmarked and shine like-new) AND DELIVERING JUST ABOUT THE FINEST SOUND I HAVE HEARD FOR THIS NOTORIOUSLY POORLY PRESSED LP - IN MY EXPERIENCE IT DOESN'T GET MUCH BETTER THAN THIS

HOUSED IN A SINGLE SLEEVE (WITH A LIGHT GLOSS FINISH)
THE RECORD COMES COMPLETE WITH ITS ORIGINAL PHOTO/LYRIC INNER SLEEVE
AND WAS PRESSED IN GERMANY (as were all UK issued copies as Reprise had no pressing facilities in the UK by the time as most vinyl plants had either closed down or converted to CD production)

ONE OF HARDER TO FIND LATTER-DAY NEIL YOUNG LPs ON VINYL

The year of the 20th anniversary of the release of his most popular album, Harvest, Neil Young released a new album that harked back to that recording, employing many of the same musicians, again dubbed the Stray Gators, as well as arranger Jack Nitzsche and background singers Linda Ronstadt and James Taylor.
He also used a similar folk-country acoustic style and sang songs that often had a personal, confessional tone.
But the similarities were more of form than of content because, while Harvest was the statement of a confused, if earnest, 26 year old, Harvest Moon embodied the ruminations of a somewhat regretful 46 year old.
Indeed, the greatest comparison to be made between the two records was that Young tried to use the passage of time as a confirmation of continuity.
In the first several songs, he seemed to be trying to reconcile with his wife and revive their love, though he was uncertain that was possible.
In "One of These Days," he regretted the loss of friendships over the years.
"War of Man" and the long and ponderous "Natural Beauty" concerned environmental preservation, and even the rollicking banjo tune "Old King" was a lament for the death of a faithful dog. "I never tried to burn any bridges," sang an artist whose contradictory instincts to move on and to return found him, by the time of his 27th solo album, trying to get back to the feel of his fourth.
If the attempt was not completely successful, nevertheless it was well and honestly made, and Young wasn't alone in his desire. As Hollywood has long since learned, sequels have a built-in audience, and Harvest Moon became Young's best-selling album in 13 years.

Track Listing:
Side 1: UNKNOWN LEGEND / FROM HANK TO HENDRIX / YOU AND ME / HARVEST MOON / WAR OF MAN
Side 2: ONE OF THESE DAYS / SUCH A WOMAN / OLD KING / DREAMIN' MAN / NATURAL BEAUTY

LABELS: Clean, bright, fresh and unmarked labels with no spindle traces or any signs of use at all - MINT
VINYL Visual: Both surfaces retain their original deep, glossy sheen and appear practically as-new - there is some light misting on the extreme outer edges but this has little audio consequence (see detailed audio assessment below) - visually NEAR MINT
VINYL Audio: Beautiful deep, rich and warm sound and on playback at a loud volume there are no jumps, sticks or scratches but there is some surface background noise/crackle (mostly on the run-ins and track divisions, but little during the music itself) which is actually not unexpected for this troublesome pressing. The LP is cut pretty quiet so I play-graded at a very loud volume which emphasised any surface noise - but there is nothing I ever found too intrusive and this is just about the finest sounding copy I have heard. Overall, the record plays to a very high standard with no groove-wear and no distortion (it's seen little, if any play) and must be very critically graded VERY GOOD+++ for audio (I cannot honestly grade the audio any higher, but from my experience the playback doesn't get much better than this and I would say that this is just about the closest to MINT as you are ever likely to find for this record)
SLEEVE: The sleeve is in EXCELLENT condition - clean and unmarked with very little storage wear to the top and bottom edges and all text clear and bold on the spine. The back shows a little record impression but nothing major overall, a very fine example
INNER SLEEVE: The photo/lyric inner is clean and unmarked with just some light handling creases but no splits to any of the edges (which is pretty rare as it's thin and delicate) - EXCELLENT (The LP is now housed - and will be posted in - a new inner to prevent any 'knifing' damage to the original during transit)
