This LP is in truly EXCELLENT CONDITION+ and is genuinely a reluctant sale.

This is a rare UK Reprise pressing by the incomparable Neil Young accompanied by Crazy Horse – Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere. This LP is a beautiful example of this rare first pressing and highly sought after LP. There is absolutely no groove-wear, no pops, and one/two very small clicks on second track of side 1, no ‘breakfast frying’, no sticks or jumps. Held at an angle towards light it is incredible there are no paper scuffs observable...It is in outstanding condition!!

Discerning and serious Neil Young collectors know that to have this LP on this original tri-colour original steamboat label in the collection is a ‘must’, and an indispensable addition to their catalogue.

Record Grading

Before I offer for sale I play grade to check my LP’s and I have just played both sides on an upmarket deck.

There is truly only one way to describe the vinyl of this LP – a superb Excellent+! – The winning bidder will not only be thrilled, but also as with all UK heavyweight Reprise pressings amazed at the sound quality of the vinyl! Remember and please bear in mind that this original pressing is 41yrs old!

The vinyl is superb And I doubt if you will ever again find this vinyl in as stunning and beautiful condition!! ‘Run-in’s’ and run-out’s on both sides are brilliant. You would be very, very fortunate to find another with sound quality like this and in such brilliant overall condition. Apart from the two very small ‘clicks’ which do not affect sound quality on track 2, the LP is immaculate!!

As always, I am being genuine and highly critical, but honest in my evaluation of the LP; You’d be thinking I’m doing myself an injustice with my description but I treat others the way I wish to be treated myself so I am describing it to the best of my ability. (Also, I have not attempted to clean the record in case of damage to the LP and because it’s in such outstanding condition it doesn’t require any object or cleaning agent applied, in fact the only implement this LP requires is a stylus!)

LP Cover

Laminate front, single sleeve – absolutely superb condition!! The laminate has no ‘lifting’ whatsoever and is all in tact! The flipback Garrod and Lofthouse sleeve is in probably one of the best conditions I have seen – no rips, tears, unwanted ink etc..etc!

The front and rear of the sleeve is clean and bright with no unsightly blemishes. The print on the spine is also excellent. The spine is also ‘square’. No edges wear whatsoever (see images).

Labels

Absolutely immaculate! Held at an angle towards light there would be the odd spindle marks but this does not affect the appearance of each of the labels in any way. And 41yrs old to boot!… Both labels truly stunning! – No unwanted ink/writing or unsightly blemishes (see images)

Album review

Neil Young's second solo album, released only four months after his first, was nearly a total rejection of that polished effort. Though a couple of songs, "Round Round (It Won't Be Long)" and "The Losing End (When You're On)," shared that album's country-folk style, they were altogether livelier and more assured. The difference was that, while Neil Young was a solo effort, Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere marked the beginning of Young's recording association with Crazy Horse, the trio of Danny Whitten (guitar), Ralph Molina (drums), and Billy Talbot (bass) that Young had drawn from the struggling local Los Angeles group the Rockets. With them, Young quickly cut a set of loose, guitar-heavy rock songs — "Cinnamon Girl," "Down by the River," and "Cowgirl in the Sand" — that redefined him as a rock & roll artist. The songs were deliberately underwritten and sketchy as compositions, their lyrics more suggestive than complete, but that made them useful as frames on which to hang the extended improvisations ("River" and "Cowgirl" were each in the nine-to-ten-minute range) Young played with Crazy Horse and to reflect the ominous tone of his singing. Young lowered his voice from the near-falsetto employed on his debut to a more expressive range, and he sang with greater confidence, accompanied by Whitten and, on "Round Round," by Robin Lane. Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere was breathtakingly different when it appeared in May 1969, both for Young and for rock in general, and it reversed his commercial fortunes, becoming a moderate hit. (Young's joining Crosby, Stills & Nash the month after its release didn't hurt his profile, of course.) A year and a half after its release, it became a gold album, and it has since gone platinum. And it set a musical pattern Young and his many musical descendants have followed ever since; almost 30 years later, he was still playing this sort of music with Crazy Horse, and a lot of contemporary bands were playing music clearly influenced by it.
