This is a NEAR MINT 1962 Shaded Dog 1S/1S, A1/A1 LSC-1806 stereo pressing of Strauss ALSO SPRACH ZARATHUSTRA Op 30. conducted by Fritz Reiner (Chicago Symphony Orchestra). This record is must for any collector. The quality of this particular copy is a must for any audiophile.

LSC-1806 is the RCA Living Stereo LP with the earliest recording date (1954). When Reiner and Chicago recorded Zarathustra again in 1962 (LSC 2609), the 1954 recording was deleted from the LSC catalogue. LSC 1806 was only in print for about 18 months. This is why it is so rare.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION:
(Please check pictures while reading the corresponding descriptions.)

Cover Promotional Sticker: This copy has the promotional sticker on the front cover. According to Jonathan Valin of The Absolute Sound this is one of the first 500 or so made since it also has A1/A1 metal mother stampers. The promo sticker is still attached flat without creases.

Cover: The cover is fantastic for an album that is over a half century old. The front of the cover looks absolutely brand new. Like it was printed today. The edges are mint with the exception of slight wear in the top right corner. The back of the cover has some wear in the top white area. Other than that, the cover is mint.

Record Sleeve: The record sleeve is unblemished, flat and without crimps. The edges are perfect. The record has been stored in a MFSL sleeve to preserve the integrity of the original sleeve. The back side of the sleeve has that wonderful “WHAT IS STEREOPHONIC SOUND?” explanation.

Vinyl Record and Shaded Dog Labels: The shaded dog record labels look like the day that they were printed. Absolutely mint. The record has been played back via a Dynavector DRT XV1s cartridge. Zero ticks and amazingly quiet for a RCA Living Stereo 1S/1S pressing. It has all of the life expected from non-audiophile mastering. This record plays back like it originally did on day one.

It would very difficult to find a better pressing of this collector’s LP!
