Another from my personal collection, also in my opinion one of the most underated Nazareth albums, this album is certainly one of my favourites!! The unique feature of this album is not only this is the earliest first issue but it feature ''1'' to ''1'' mother stampers!, from my personal experiance of collecting vinyl over the past 35 years or more, the earlist stampers pressed from the original master produce the best and most vibrant audio quality available on vinyl, (later bstampers produce a bland audio in comparison) The Audio quality of this vinyl was almost as good as it gets in my opinion! I would class myself as highly critical, Please look at my completed listings of records that I have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right! Near mint audio on my systems! This album is complete with the original record sleeve insert with the lyrics on one side and picture of Nazareth on the other in excellent condition. The 1st issue cover is also graded at least excellent featuring raised embossed text at the front and the Nazareth Doller bill (only foud on first issues) In my opinion this is a very scarce and highly collectable album to ver find like this!!!

Rampant was the fifth studio album by album by the Scottish rock band Nazareth, released in 1974!!

Nazareth was formed in December 1968 in Dunfermline, Scotland, out of the ashes of semi-professional local group The Shadettes (formed in 1961) by vocalist Dan McCafferty, guitarist Manny Charlton (ex Mark V and The Red Hawks), bassist Pete Agnew, and drummer Darrell Sweet. They took their name from the first line of The Band's classic song "The Weight" ("I pulled into Nazareth / Was feelin' about half past dead...")

The band moved to London, England in 1970, and released their self-titled debut album in 1971. After getting some attention with their second album Exercises, released in 1972, Nazareth issued Razamanaz in early 1973. This collection spawned two UK Top Ten hits, "Broken Down Angel" and "Bad Bad Boy." This was followed by Loud 'N' Proud in late 1973, which contained another hit single with a hard-rocking cover of Joni Mitchell's song "This Flight Tonight." Then came this album on offer Rampant, in 1974, that was equally successful although it did not yield a single. A non-album song, again a cover version, this time of Tomorrow's "My White Bicycle," was a UK Top 20 entry in 1975!!.

The Vinyl

The vinyl is the original early thick and chunky type of vinyl (only 1st press) later issues o this album are much more flimsier type of vinyl! On initial inspection the vinyl looks awesome it is hard to see a blemish, (There are (no) needle\audio sounding marks that i can see at all) only in strong light could possibly any light whyspy sleeve removal marks be seen!

The Audio Quality

I have played this track or track at very loud volume on a top system at very loud volume! The first thing to point out is that the audio is truly astounding throughout! Absolutely cristal clear and vibrant, rich deep bassey feel that can only be heard like this, on these early pressings! Top Top Audio on all frequencies! (no) signs o any distortion or that this has been overplayed what so ever!! (no) clicks or pops and certainly no jumps or skips! This played through very near perfect on my systems! Absolutely awesome! Almost as good as it gets in my opinion!! (please note! The earliest mother stampers make all the difference for the best audio quality available on vinyl this plays top top!!

Please note! I always make this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd light static perhapes heard in some quiet places (not consistant throughout the audio) Please remember that this is a 35 year old vinyl that would have originaly been played on a 35 year old system!

Important note! This has been stored in a case laying dormant for over 25 years!,,A build up od dirt and dust in the grooves causes static ticks\crackle. A constant clean is recomended before each play! this will reduce any static and enhance the audio quality!

The Labels

These feature the earliest Mooncrest labels (only 1st press) are superbe! Minimal spidering can only be seen angled to the light! There is little if no spindle ware the hole is perfectly round!

The Record Sleeve

This is the original 1st press\issue picture\lyric sleeve. (no) splits or tares just light creasing with age. The sleeve is now always stored seperately from the vinyl and cover , this is how i always store my records. This must be at least excellent!!

The Cover

This is the original 1st issue cover in excellent condition! Please note! Importantly features the original 'Nazareth Rampant Doller bill' on the cover and the cover is raised \embossed on the front! (only found on the 1st issues) There is minimal storageware in the form of light rubbing at the spine and edges only really noticable if looked for! Amaizingly there are no creases at the front or rear! This is very rtare to find like this indeed, This must be at least excellent!
