On Offer here is a very nice 1st UK issue of the Muddy Waters classic LP 'The Real Folk Blues' on the highly collectible gold on black Chess label. This is a superb album made up of early 50's recordings and is part of the Real Folk Blues series that included releases by John Lee Hooker, Sonny Boy Williamson and Howlin' Wolf, although the later two artistes UK releases came with differing titles to the USA releases. However they are all brilliant albums and this Muddy Waters release is one of his toughest albums to find. This is an authentic original pressing on fairly heavy vinyl with A1 / B1 matrices and is available here is very nice condition, especially the vinyl which is flawless, remarkable for a 50 year old Muddy LP that has so many great tracks.
The Front laminated flip-back cover is VG++, a superb front with only a few spine edge wrinkles and some wear / feathering to the opening edge, the reverse in very clean, some signs of ageing and a few wrinkles on the right side flip-back but still very solid. There were at some point annotations beside the track listings that have been erased but still show a little wear, nothing major but worth mentioning. The spine is pretty solid with a few wrinkles but all text is clear and easily readable. All told a very nice cover.
Vinyl is EX or better, really clean and glossy, no marks at all, there are some spindle marks on the labels which show it has been played several times but really this is a lovely condition vinyl.
Labels are excellent - some spindle marks which are inevitable on the matt black labels but only suggesting a handful of plays.
Plain paper inner sleeve, which is how the Chess released UK albums came.
All told this is a very nice copy of this fantastic and rare Muddy Waters blues album, if the opening edge was a grade higher this would be a Near mint album throughout, its a corker and its rare.
