Muddy Waters ?– Folk Singer - Pye International 1964

Selling-up my extensive record collection. Lots of interesting records in the collection - do have a look at my other items, and there are new listings every week. I may have obscure things that you didn't even know you wanted!
Pye International R&B series LPs were one of the few chances we English white boys had, in the early sixties, to hear proper blues from the USA - through a licensing with Chess, among others. At this era, the great blues guys were playing in a way true to themselves - as opposed to later times where they'd worked out what a broader audience wanted to hear and served that up - it's about making a living, after all. 
This is an original 1964 copy of a fine Muddy Waters album. Not a compilation, this sounds like a proper album recorded in one set of sessions. Incidentally, "folk" back then meant approximately what we mean by world music, kinda ethnic. Which included the proper black blues.  This is very well recorded, vocals sound wonderful, and plenty of Muddy's slide guitar also sounding very good. Backing is generally quite sparse, sometimes just a second guitar, sometimes plus bass, sometimes with drums too - and proper band arrangement on "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl" (which works very well). Record is scratched but still plays in a very worthwhile fashion - super dynamic range, vocals and his guitar loud at times, quiet at others.

Cover - is quite good - front-laminated with flip-backs. Front has some wear to the lamination, is a bit formed to the shape of the record, has some scallop creases, and cracks in from the edges. Edges and spine are very good. Back is grubby from normal handling, and a few tiny spots. Handwriting at top. Not split or torn. This even has its original lined Pye inner - which is split at the bottom.
Record - Briefly - side one has several long scratches, and a big heavy scuff - which means there are a lot of scratches in a group all pointing in the same direction. Side two has several scratches and impacts, plus surface-y marks.
Play-test - I have played both sides of this. As observed above, quite scratchy. However, old sixties records often still play nicely despite damage, so I have been listening to this loud, on my posh hi-fi. Record didn't skip or stick.  OK, let's say there are three levels of scratchy noises. One is a background, more-or-less continuous white-noise effect. Secondly, individual crackles which one hears in-amongst the music - perhaps a once-per-rotation crackle, maybe several per-rotation. Worst, sometimes called clicks, sometimes once-per-rotation, as stylus encounters a really nasty scratch, and these are sometimes louder than the music. This album has a lot of the first type, and the second type quite often if not drowned-out by loud playing. I noticed around three short spells of the third type - clicks - two occasions lasting for 3 or 4 rotations, one a bit longer but quieter. Not louder than the loud parts of the music, and brief. General crackliness reduces as you play through a side - first part is always the most crackly, on scratchy records.
Any playable copy of this has a value - this one is a good deal at my starting price. I enjoyed doing the play-test, and played it through again to enjoy the music.
When I'm checking for damage on records, I look at them carefully with my reading glasses on, in good daylight. This method detects any bits of damage that will affect what you hear when listening to it - and lots that are not audible. Using a spotlight or direct sunlight shows more surfacey marks sometimes, but I don't do that - records are for listening to, not trying to see your face in.
Postage at cost within UK - £3.00 plus 50p for a proper record mailer with two stiffener sheets of cardboard (or whatever's appropriate). Happy to do combined postage wherever practical. I'll charge you what it costs me - so anything up to six (or so) LPs would still be the same charge, £3.50. I'm happy to send this overseas. See below for details, if bidding from outside UK - YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS STUFF.
Dispatch will usually be "next day".
Collection in person is welcome.
I don't mail things personally, to countries outside the UK - ( I mean it, don't ask) - but I am happy to use E-Bay UK's Global Shipping Program, for sending things abroad. Under this scheme, I send the parcel to an e-bay depot in UK, and they forward it to the overseas buyer.
They have a tracked courier service, for the journey from their UK depot, to the buyer.
This means that I can ONLY accept payments through e-bay (Pay Now button), and I can't send invoices.  
E-Bay UK tells me, they do NOT do combined postage in the Global Shipping Programme. Charges to the customer for delivery and customs charges are whatever you're told they are - if you don't want to pay the postal / courier charges individually for the items, then do not bid. HOWEVER, if you win several items, and pay for them all in the same payment, their system may well spot this and do combined postage. If this happens, pay what you're told, and I will refund the excess postage paid to me - if you buy three LPs, I would be getting three lots of £3.50, but I can send all in one parcel, so I only need one lot of £3.50, usually. The exception is, if the items you buy weigh more than 2 kilos altogether, I need to make two parcels - there is a special cheap postage rate in UK, for parcels under 2 kilos. Overseas customers - please DON'T request an invoice - I can't make one, and it screws-up the e-bay system.
International buyers should be able to see a postage cost to their country, you may have to input your location, if your country is included in the scheme.

Applicable customs charges will probably be shown to buyers in non-EU countries - E-Bay collects customs duty for the receiving country, wherever import duty is appropriate. If you don't want to pay the customs charges, do not bid.
I don't send to China (because I prefer not to), and I also don't send to Japan, Brazil, Ecuador and Peru, as importation of vinyl records is not permitted in their customs regulations.
