Description
Hi! You are bidding on The Gipsy, an album of English folk music by Mr Fox, who were basically Bob and Carole Pegg, along with Barry Lyons and Alan Eden. The album was released in 1971 by Transatlantic Records, catalog number TRA 236. This copy is from the second pressing. It has the Transatlantic logo on side one, and the songs listed on side two, with black print on a white background. This is a radio station discard, and the album is in very good condition. It is quite possible that the record was not played frequently, as it was listed under "Pegg," and shelved in the Rock section. Also, the sleeve has no information on the spine.
The record does have some very light surface noise, particularly on "Mendle." However, there are no scratches or skips, and only one very faint pop.
The album jacket shows a good bit of wear, which is understandable after more than 25 years of being sandwiched on a shelf. The name of the radio station is on the back cover (see photo number two); there is considerable wear on the outside edge of the back part of the gatefold. There is also noticeable ring wear on the back of the cover, and light ring wear on the front of the cover. There is a small circular spot of wear (about 1 3/4 inches) on the front cover, just below the gypsy's chin, where the Jem Imports sticker was removed.
Songs are:
SIDE ONE:
Mendle The Gypsy
SIDE TWO:
Aunt Lucy Broadwood The House Carpenter Elvira Madigan Dancing Song All the Good Times (with Swan Arcade and the Stradlings)
This was the second and final album by Mr Fox. The group was highly regarded initially, but uneven live performances led to the disbanding of Mr Fox in 1972. Transatlantic re-released both albums as a "twofer" in 1975.
Winning bidder to pay $3.45 media rate postage in the U.S. Personal cheque preferred; however, I also accept PayPal (at least until later this year, when eBay gets its greedy hands on all of my money). There is no holding period for cheques. Please e-mail with any questions.
Good luck, and thanks for looking!
