Description
A 1960 recording of Mozart's Don Giovanni with Carlo Maria Giulini and the Philharmonia Orchestra featuring Eberhard Wachter, Joan Sutherland, Luigi Alva, Gottlob Frick, Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Giuseppe Taddei, Piero Cappuccilli and Graziella Sciutti. Columbia Records Stereo Masterworks Series No. 1009, SAX2369, comprising four LPs.
This item originates from the record collection of my partner's late great uncle, Eric (the cleric, a Church of England priest), who would appear to have had a somewhat eclectic taste in music. I do not have the wherewithal to play records and cannot therefore vouch for sound quality. I can however comment on physical appearances.
In this case, the box would appear to be in excellent condition, with very little sign of wear or tear; the only obvious blemish is that the left hand edge of the gold circular EMI sticker has slightly come away. Otherwise, it's near perfect both inside and out. The accompanying notes sheet is a little foxed in places and has a small 1 cm tear at the top, but is otherwise in good condition. To my untutored eye, there are no obvious scratches on any of the records themselves, just the odd fingerprint and associated dust etc. It looks as if Eric either looked after his collection extremely well, or didn't actually play this record set very much at all.
