~~ Originally released in 1976, II was the (wait for it) second album from Canadian rockers Moxy, who had just released their self-titled debut earlier that same year. The band had a flexible rock sound that went from glam rock to hard rock and back again, often within the space of a single song.

Moxy was in the same general ballpark as bands like Starz and Legs Diamond, though they had traces of Angel and Nazareth (especially in the late Buzz Shearman’s vocals) in their sound. Like the Moxy debut, II is a catchy, melodic album with plenty of hard rocking energy. This one seems a bit more grooving and less ballad-oriented than the debut, but is just as much fun. “Take It or Leave It,” “Change in My Life” and “Through the Storm” are my favorites here, but the whole album is very solid.

Moxy is one of those bands that should have done well, but for whatever reason stayed mostly under the radar. If you’re into the late ‘70s and early ‘80s rock sound – glam, hard rock, AOR, early metal or any point in between – this is a band that you’ll want to check out ...recommended !!
