Artist: Mott the Hoople
Format: Framed and fully signed & framed tour poster.
Production year: 2009
Rarity: super rarity which was the property of Terence Dale Griffin (‘Buffin’), drummer and founding member of ‘Mott the Hoople’. In January 2009 it was confirmed that Buffin and the other four original members of Mott the Hoople would reform for three 40th anniversary reunion concerts in October 2009, and due to popular demand, the reunion was eventually extended to five shows.
This poster has been beautifully signed by the full classic band including:
· Ian Hunter – vocals, guitar, piano, harmonica, bass (1969–1974, 2009, 2013, 2018, 2019). Ian has signed in fine gold gel-type pen.
· Mick Ralphs – guitar, vocals, organ, synthesizers (1969–1973, 2009, 2013). Mick has signed in fine silver gel-type pen.
· Verden Allen – organ, vocals (1969–1972, 2009, 2013). Verden has signed in fine gold gel-type pen.
· Pete Overend Watts – bass, vocals, guitar (1969–1979, 2009, 2013; died 2017). Pete has signed in fine gold gel-type pen.
· Dale "Buffin" Griffin – drums, backing vocals, percussion (1969–1979, guest in 2009; died 2016). Buffin has signed in fine gold gel-type pen.
Prior to this it was announced that because of the poor health of Buffin, his place for the concerts would be taken by Martin Chambers, drummer of The Pretenders, though Buffin did appear at the encores.
Condition: this small poster is in superb condition with no defects to note within the frame! This item has been framed in a lose clip-style frame and is unmounted, should you wish to frame this wonderful poster more professionally. I have no hesitation in grading this super rare item as excellent plus (+) 9/10 condition.
Dimensions: 41cm x 31cm estimated (framed)
Provenance: purchased as 112 via auctioneers’ ‘Harper Field’ in October 2023, as part of a large consignment of property for sale and offered by Buffins family, who sadly passed away from Early-onset Alzheimer's disease in January 2016. Redacted COA will be provided to buyer as proof of authenticity.
