Description

WELCOME TO A SOUL_DIGGER AUCTION

ARTIST/GROUP:    Lee Alan & The Vendellas (Vandallas)

LABEL:    no label name no #

TITLES:    Set Me Free / Set Me Free

CONDITION:    Mint-  tape on both sides of label  / cover is VG++

COMMENTS:    Detroit disc jockey's promotional record for the YMCA.  According to Lee Alan himself:  "I wrote "Set Me Free" in 1963. It was about The Horn.  Took it to Barny Ales who gave it to Popcorn Wyley.  It was produced in the Hitsville studios.  Martha and the Vandellas were backup singers.  Marvin Gaye played my Horn, Stevie was on piano, and Smokey was in there doing something.  We only had an hour to do it and...I HAD THE WORST COLD EVER!  My voice cracked and I could reach the high notes....but in the end it all worked."

Does anybody care about oddball Motown related records anymore?  If so, here's one for ya!
