Description

Out of print for some time now, I believe that I've set a fair reserve. NOTE: THIS is a SET of LPs. I will hold all high bidders to their final bids -- no exceptions.

4-LP boxed set: The Complete 1959 CBS Charlie Mingus Sessions: Mosaic MQ4-143. (4-LP set Limited Edition #0450 of 2000 / pressed on excellent audiophile quality vinyl / USA]. (Condition: records, box & booklet are in excellent condition – played – but certainly near mint.) ||| I believe I can state that this set represents two of the best over-all modern jazz albums ever recorded. A truly definitive and expansive version of The Sessions from 1959 that were originally issued as Mingus Ah-Um & Mingus Dynasty. There was at least one attempt to reedit/expand some of these things by Columbia. I don’t remember off-hand what kind of edits (if any) are explored here, but I think it’s just…"here they are!" Which is just fine in my book. /\ Lots of distinguished musicians including John Handy, Booker Ervin, Shafi Hadi, Jimmy Knepper or Willie Dennis, Horace Parlan, Dannie Richmond on the ‘combo’ trks. Plus other great folks to fill out the sections on the large ensemble tracks. /\ A total of 27 selections including Bird Calls / Better Git It In Your Soul / Jelly Roll / Self-Portrait In Three Colors / Strollin’ / Gunslinging Bird (a.k.a. "If Charlie Parker Were a Gunslinger There’d Be an Awful Lot of Dead Copycats") / Goodbye Pork-Pie Hat (a.k.a. "Theme for Lester") / New Now, Know How. || As usual, a great booklet, which by the way, includes the original liner notes from the Columbia albums. || [RE: BT] || Notes on mailing and payment options are in the following paragraphs.

Notes on mailing: I can send this item to anywhere in the U.S. via Media Mail (w/ Delivery confirmation) for $5.50. /\ eBay provides a line in the auction-end ‘user form’ for the winner’s Zip Code (or mailing Country). Be sure to provide your Zip Code (or Country) in this line in order to save time in communications. /\ Both U.S. Priority charges and International Rates will be quoted after I get the package’s country of destination. Please keep in mind that the package will weigh approximately 2Lbs 11 oz. – so for INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS this is a weight that may be sent USPS "Letter-Post" delivery option - but it is a boxed LP set. I will be re-enforcing the corners and using additional packing material. Thanks, Berigan

/||||\---- Payment may be made with cashier’s check or money order or with a personal check or PayPal or Bid Pay. /\ Sorry -- NO Charge Cards or Debit cards for payment. If you wish to use these cards at this time, you may go to PayPal and check out their procedures. /\ //|\\ Please click on (& possibly bookmark?) my other auctions. I put up several new items each week of mostly pre-recorded music, often jazz-related.

*** NOTICE ON MAILING: I feel that my eBay rating & feedback assures buyers that I am a responsible seller (& buyer). One who follows through on deals and that goes out of his way to be fair in the rare case of dispute. Yet to buyers new to my operation, here goes:

1.) I only use USPS.

2.) I guarantee that packages will be correctly addressed and safely packed. (That’s why I ask buyers to respond via email with their mailing address. I cut it out and tape it to the address label.)

3.) I will take NO Responsibility for LOSS of UNINSURED packages. I’ll say it another way, no refunds on lost packages, if they are not insured.

4.) I know that this can be a hardship, especially for International Buyers due to the prohibitive expense of mailing & insuring Parcel Post, which is the only way insured packages can be sent outside of the USA. Insurance is not available for the cheaper Letter-Post delivery. Yet keep in mind that out of about 2000 items that we’ve mailed internationally, only a mere handful (perhaps 6 or 7 in five years) has not been delivered. So the odds are extremely good that International Packages will arrive safely. But the buyer (domestic or international) is the one who takes the chance.

5.) This goes for domestic items too: no refunds on undelivered, uninsured packages. As to insured domestic packages: it is the responsibility of the buyer to collect insurance on these items. I will provide all appropriate sales documentation; and if necessary, the proper postal forms to the buyer.

Not to put too fine of a point on it -- but if you don’t feel that you can live with the above caveats -- don’t bid on my items. If you are interested in even more information, I deal with this morbid subject in even greater, excruciating detail on my Website (see above link). Thanks for your time. Regards, Berigan
