Description
Opa Kukla / Ela 'Tho by Morocco (MGM K13496, 1966) This very cool single was played several months ago on a Dutch radio broadcast ("Psyche van het Folk", Radio Centraal, Antwerpen, 2004-02-18 : ARAB, ARMENIAN & PERSIAN CROSSOVERS), which described it on their playlist: "Great garage freakbeat single. First in/with Middle Eastern mode/theme. With electric oud (?) instead of electric guitar. And more middle eastern percussion. Powerfully fitting North African high tone hysterical "lilili" singing (I don't know the name for this), followed by beautiful brake, and then middle eastern freakbeat, with heavy drumming, electric oud. A masterly very powerful crossover from middle eastern elements with 60's music. Unique. Released in 1966. Also came from the New York underground." The overall effect is wonderfully hypnotic, and this release foreshadows all the Middle Eastern-tinged psych records of the next several years. It hasn't been comped, so don't miss this! The vinyl is a very strong VG+, and the labels are NM. Shipping via First Class is $2.50 within the United States; shipping via Airmail outside of the U.S. is approximately $5.50 to Europe and $6.00 to Asia (depending on the country). I accept PayPal, checks, money orders (international or U.S.), or well-concealed cash. Good luck!
