Very rare genuine 1st pressing with original sleeve of The Moody Blues-"Days Of Future Passed" Vinyl LP. Deram SML 797 stereo 1967.Matrix nos.: ZAL-8078-2W / ZAL-8079-2W. All too often this LP turns up described as an original pressing with the Moody Blues name in light blue on the front of the sleeve. This is a genuine 1st pressing with the correct black logo and small lettering sleeve.The story behind this is that when Decca originally planned to release it, it was going to be a record to demonstrate their new DSS (Deramic Sound System) using then,state of the art recording techniques. The Moody Blues and The London Festival Orchestra, conducted by Peter Knight were going to receive equal billing, hence the names of all were printed in the same size black lettering when the album was first released in late 1967. When the record charted in early 1968, Decca decided to re-market it as an official Moody Blues album with their name appearing on the sleeve in larger blue lettering. The rear sleeve lettering was also changed (Moody Blues became larger), and the group were also given individual song writing credits on the record label, instead of the single Redgrave/Knight credit that appears on the first pressings,(Please see photos). Another little detail was that Decca originally put the record out at a budget price,(typically 32 shillings and 7 pence, as opposed to the later increased price of 36 shillings and 6 pence. If you study the photos you will see the original shop price of 32/7 written on the back of the sleeve,(further confirmation of it's status as an absolutely original 1st pressing) The album sleeve and record are in near mint condition. I don't think you'll ever find a better copy. The audio is simply stunning. Even if you didn't like the music, you would be impressed.
