The auctioned item it's one of the rarest progressive album in the world at moment and one of the rarest lps in our catalogue.
graded EX-/EX- for a strict Record Collector magazine grading system
label: The original orange label with black writings it's in very nice conditions, I can see some spindle wear around centre hole hence VG++ but the plays it's unaffected.
cover: The cover it's in very nice condition with NO general wear and it's partially in his shrink. There's just the bottom left corner slightly bumped but this is a very minor defect tthat anyway have to be mentioned in a strict grade especially...hence VG++ cover.
vinyl: The vinyl it's in great shape with his brilliancy totally intact without marks just some lights scuffs...pressing it's excellent too so it's plays without any problem.
review: I like this lp because I can hear on it anything has been made of fresh and innovative in the psych culture of sixties but I think the following review of "Silent Mike" can be of some help for everyone of us.
"Not nearly as humorous as the cover seems to promise, this record is a far above-average private-press (1,000 copies) from a one-man band. Chris Wilson recorded this gem in his bedroom, his ceiling painting of Middle-Earth residing in another part of his apartment. The songs are jangly folk-pop, mixing Tolkien mythology with big-city observationals. Througout the record, Wilson maintains a keen sense of structure and drama, adding little modulations here and there to keep things interesting. The title track opens things in suitably grand fashion, and the waltzy "Here On Eighth Street" is good as the Byrds' best (tho' I guess it sounds more like the Moody Blues), great heartfelt vocals and sly references to hippie homosexuality and crime (ex. of the latter: "The Arrow Shirt Store did a much better business by moonlight/But they bought through the windows and not through the doors"). Other mild stylistic stretches work damn well. "Go and See" is a bass-led folk-rocker that sounds - at first - like Elvis Presley's "Suspicion" (!). Anyone who's listened to anything on Orange Twin shoudn't be surprised by this, except maybe by the date. It's indie pop, it's lo-fi, it's bedroom rock; heck, it's better than Pet Sounds!"
This is a record that rarelly turns up and the vinyl it's virtually Mint. Don't miss! SORRY for the reserve price but this is really the minimum I can accept for a so rare item and this is a correct auction very different the many "pushed up" auctions I see all around! Please open your eyes!
