VINYL is VG+
Both LPs are clean, high gloss vinyl with a few scattered, non-sounding surface lines and faint, small cosmetic specks from the original paper inner sleeves. Both LPs play great. All 4 Labels are bright and clean with no spindle marks.
Vinyl now inside additional protective anti-static lined inner sleeves.
COVERs are VG+
WOW is a Gatefold cover, very clean and crisp with only some light shelf wear. No creases, writing or soil. Straight edges and sharp corners all around. Seams and flat, smooth spine are completely intact with no splits. Spine titles are 100% legible - crisp and sharp with no wear.
GRAPE JAM cover is also overall very clean and crisp with only a very small amount of minor shelf wear; no creases, writing or soil. All edges straight, all corners sharp - seams and spine are excellent with no wear or splits.

"WOW / GRAPE JAM” is the second album by MOBY GRAPE released in April 1968 in USA on Columbia Records.

FIRST PRESSINGS of the Moby Grape albums "Wow" and "Grape Jam" were originally released and sold shrink-wrapped together, as a special 2 album set; with each LP having its own separate, unique album cover. The 'package' catalog number CXS 3 appears on the labels of both albums along with the main catalog numbers for each album; CS 9613 for WOW - and MGS 1 additionally being the designated catalog number for GRAPE JAM.
The original retail price for this 2 record package was $1.00 above the normal retail single LP price; making it a very unique offering.
They were later sold separately as single albums.
This is the original (Rarely Found today) complete first pressing that was issued as the TWO Record set, containing both the "WOW" LP together with "Grape Jam" – that were packaged together under the single shrink wrap.
SCARCE Original 1968 first pressing on the highly collected 360 Sound '2 EYE' Columbia label, in thick gatefold cover. Probably SKIP SPENCE's finest performance, containing "Motorcycle Irene" perhaps his best ever track.

This 1/1 Press of WOW is presented with the original record label layout; with the title WOW at top, but without the band’s name printed on the label. GRAPE JAM, likewise, has its title, but not the Moby Grape name, on labels.

"WOW" featured the original line-up of Don Stevenson (drums), Jerry Miller (guitarist No. 1), backing monster voice/songwriter Bob Mosley (bass), and Loretta Young's son of a Byrds disciple, Peter Lewis (guitar No. 3), who all bowed to the group's Syd Barrett/Roky Erickson type guru, Alexander "Skip" Spence (guitarist No. 2).

WOW opener "The Place and the Time" starts out the album off strong from the get-go, and "Murder in My Heart for the Judge" grabs ahold as a song once heard never forgotten. Mosley's gorgeous "Bitter Wind" and Miller/Stevenson's stomping "Can't Be So Bad" are all highlights on a superb, well-rounded Side One. Peter Lewis' gentle, elegiac "He"  starts off Side Two in a surreal, acid-folk vein, reminding very much of early Buffalo Springfield. Skip Spence's driving, open throttle classic, "Motorcycle Irene" follows, kicking things into highest gear. Plenty more great songs fill out the second side, including Jerry Miller's infamous "Naked If I Want To", and his crowning guitar piece, simply titled "Miller's Blues".
Soon after WOW, Skip Spence went clean over the edge (Moby Grape's East Coast trip with a very densely packed schedule for recording/publishing deals and concert performances that turned traumatic and overwhelming, mishandled by their management, becoming chaotic and heavily over-committed - sadly going sideways and off the rails by the time they reached New York.) "Skippy got messed up right off the bat [in NYC]," states guitarist Jerry Miller. "He was never the same again. It wasn't the same for any of us."
...but before all that, they graced us with some powerful music.

Moby Grape were one of the premier original Acid Rock bands from the '60s San Francisco scene. Skip Spence originally had been the drummer for the early Jefferson Airplane. But his preferred instrument was always the guitar, and he formed Moby Grape - delivering his best... every drop of Moby Grape "WOW" is precious.
