TRAFFIC –THE LOW SPARK OF THE HIGH HEELED BOYS

ORIGINAL MASTER RECORDING MOBILE FIDELITY SOUND LAB
ANADISQ 200 gram MFSL 1-209 LIMITED EDITION # 0555.
Heavy duty gatefold album with gatefold  record holder and high quality record inner sleeve.

The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys is the sixth album by English rock band Traffic, released in 1971. As with other Traffic albums, The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys featured different forms and offshoots of rock including jazz rock, progressive rock, as well as classic rock and roll. The title of the album was suggested by the actor Michael J. Pollard. The album features the hit "Rock & Roll Stew (part 1)" and the FM hit, "The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys." This is the only original Traffic album to feature two lead vocals by Jim Capaldi ("Light Up Or Leave Me Alone" and "Rock & Roll Stew"). His only other unaccompanied vocal on a Traffic studio album was "Dealer" from Mr. Fantasy.

About the company (from Wikipedia):

Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab (MFSL or MoFi) is a re-issue record label known as an innovator in the production of audiophile-quality sound recordings. All of the label's releases are created from the first-generation analog master recordings via a custom-engineered tape machine. MFSL has issued titles on LP.  Each title is licensed from the original record company for a limited period of time and production runs are usually restricted to a few thousand units each.

The emphasis on quality at MFSL has been praised by critics and music fans. After the label's initial success, both major record labels and small startups began producing half-speed mastered releases and albums advertised as being sourced directly from the original master tape.

Half-speed LP mastering

Mobile Fidelity was the first label to use the half-speed mastering technique. All LP releases are pressed from lacquers cut at 1/2 normal playing speed. This is accomplished by playing master tape at half its normal speed, while simultaneously running the cutting lathe at half speed. For instance, a 30 inch per second (I.P.S.) speed tape would be played at 15 I.P.S., while the lathe is running at 16?? RPM (when cutting a standard 33?? RPM LP). The half-speed mastering technique allows for extended frequency response and better transient attack.

Supervinyl

Early MFSL titles were pressed by JVC in Japan on virgin 180 gram "SuperVinyl" vinyl. JVC originally developed this proprietary plastic compound in the early 1970s to reduce record wear on CD-4 discrete quadraphonic LP records. Supervinyl is a harder and more durable vinyl formula than traditional formulas. The pressings exhibit a very low surface noise, as well as pops and clicks. Supervinyl is proprietary JVC technology, which was discontinued in the late 1980s.

ANADISQ 200 are vinyl 200 gram recordings.
