It is easy to discount this recording in deference to Reiner's 1954 first stereo recording of this symphonic masterpiece... but make no mistake!
This 1962 recording is spectacular and in its ultimate incarnation thanks to MoFi.
LP is pristine; jacket looks great.

The Chicago Symphony  Orchestra is conducted by Fritz Reiner in this spectacular performance of  Richard Strauss' 1896 tone poem, Also Sprach Zarathustra.  The fanfare has become immortal due to its use as the key musical motif in Stanley Kubrick's 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey.

On a good stereo system this album will sound very impressive, showing it off to its fullest.  But on a system with deep, tight bass and lots of power, it will sound amazing! The kettle drums in the fanfare are alone worth the price of admission.  Indeed, this album is a must-have demonstration disk for anyone desiring the ultimate in powerful, impressive orchestral music.
