Sandinista - Triple LP by The Clash (1980)
Signed by the late great Joe Strummer - genuine autograph – not a copy
I won this LP in a Radio competition 28 years ago when Joe Strummer was visiting the station to promote The Clash’s new album.
It has been one of my most treasured possessions all that time and has never been played. It has spent that time protected in a plastic album sleeve an in a box with my other albums. I hope you can see from the photos that its condition is excellent – you will not find this album in better condition. If you are a fan, or a serious collector then this is for you. It obviously comes with all three albums, the insert (mint condition) and has the original inner sleeves.
The only damage to the album is, as you can see, on the back of the cover where the autograph is, at the top in the middle. I had to collect my prize from Radio Trent’s offices in Nottingham and the receptionist had taped a piece of paper with my name on it to the album and when I collected it she ripped it off leaving a piece of white about an inch square where the original red was. Nearly 30 years on and I still haven’t forgiven her!
I couldn’t imagine myself ever selling this, but I heard a Radio 2 documentary the other day commemorating Joe and reminding us all it was 6 years since his sudden death. I got thinking and thought that maybe after all this time I should let another fan have possession of this unique memorabilia for a while. However, I normally put things on ebay starting at 99p, but you can forget that! I’m not selling this for a penny less than £20, and to be honest it should be worth much more than that.
Any questions will be happily answered and if you want more photos, give me your email address and I’ll send them directly to you.
I've tried to add a scan of the actual signature, but it hasn't come out very well on ebay. If anyone is interested I can email the original jpeg to you. Its much clearer.
POSTAGE: My postage rates are based around what the actual packaging and postage will cost based on size and weight. I am not deliberately trying to make money out of postage and if and when I get to the postage if I’ve got it wrong, then I apologise, but I’m sure it will still work out cheaper than many other ebayers.
Overseas buyers: I am happy to ship anywhere in the world, but please ask about postage costs, as they will obviously be higher, although based on the same principle of me charging just what it actually costs.
PAYMENT: UK cheque or Paypal please.
RETURNS: I am more than happy to offer a full refund on any item I sell for any reason, even if you simply change your mind (but just the cost of the item and not the postage costs I’m afraid). Just return the item to me.
